Nexus 5 Battery with 5.0

I wonder how much the always scanning setting makes a difference for WiFi battery drain.

It'll make a difference if you disable that. Perhaps not a large difference, but disabling similar settings across the device will definitely help.

Disabling that useless Fit app made a difference in battery. When I had it enabled I was getting massive battery drain. Now it is about the same with Kitkat except OST is much worse. Listing to music with the screen off battery drain is normal. If I try to do anything with the screen on load chrome, tapatalk, look at photos etc my battery goes down a 1% every other minute or so. I am not pleased with Lollypop I was hopping for better battery life. Maybe I should do what I did with my iPod Touch leave it plugged in all the time except when I have to go mobile with it.

I wound up going back to my Note 4. Battery life rendered the Nexus 5 nearly unusable as a daily driver. Hope the issue gets ironed out quickly, because I was really enjoying lollipop otherwise.

Hi Everyone,

I am really frustrated with the Android 5.0 because of the battery drain. Previously with the Kitkat version 4.4.4 i did not face any such issue as the battery used to last for 24 hours. I had games installed, wifi used to be on etc

But now after the update last week, i am seriously facing this battery drain. I charge the phone in the morning to full by 8:30am and if the WiFi is on by 10:30 it is reduced to 75%. What i have noticed is that if the wifi is off, the draining is slow.

Can anyone suggest me any approach. I used to use Battery Doctor, but yesterday i removed it and is checking DU battery saver. But no luck, its all the same.

There is a lot of "after update" activity on a phone, that is eating up some battery.
Also most People tend to play around a bit more with the phone after such a major update.

The Screen-On time would be interesting.
PS: just saw you already posted it ... wow, only 30 mins ... that's way too little.

Did you already try a cache partition wipe?

Even m facing the same problem after updating to lollipop battery drains, regularly it says cannot connect to the camera again i hv to restart very bad update frm google i personally feel

Everything was fine for a few days after my update. Now the battery charges ok (USB or mains), but the usage is erratic to say the least.
When full it will say up to 9 days left on usage.

I experimented the other day and found if I don't use it at all I only use maybe 2 or 3 % from battery ALL DAY.
If I do anything with the phone the battery drains faster than a greyhound out of the traps.

No other problems noticed really, but I am not a heavy user.

Diz is wat happening

There is a bug that if you use the flashlight for like two minutes the flashlight will crash and then the camera won't work either. Then you have to reboot. I really like the flashlight in the drop down but they really need to fix it.

Haven't tried to wipe the partition, but it was a clean install since I didn't upgrade. I have very bad service with AT&T here, so it's very likely that a large portion of my battery drain is because of that. With that being said though, my Note doesn't experience the same kind of drain, and that is also on AT&T. Yeah, I realize the battery on the Note is larger, but it just doesn't drain as quickly as the Nexus on Lollipop.

No i din turn on the flash den too d camera is encountering d problem and what abt battery backup why is it draining so fast and d amount f ram will be above 75% all d tym(usage) when none of my apps will be open (not background apps)

Updated a week ago and no problem with battery life, disconnect at 8am. and by 11 pm. Still have a 20% of battery with almost 4 hours of screen use.

after 2 weeks with Lollipop my battery has been the same as KitKat. Mind you, i wiped/cache + partition, as well as format before running the OS. Running from a clean slate has been great.

This sounds exactly like what I'm seeing with mine. I can have a 30 minute phone call that drops the battery 5% max but typing this post 3% gone.

My screen usage didn't even register today; I estimate that it was less than 15 minutes. My battery went from 100% to 29% in roughly six hours and 15 minutes. I didn't use the phone in that time (no phone calls, text messages, music streaming, etc.) I'll have to look up how to clear the cache partition. I really don't want to have to do a factory data reset. I'll switch to another phone first.

Same here. Wiping cache hasn't seemed to do anything to improve things, either.

I wiped the cache partition last night. In 11 hours, I dropped from 100% to 87% with very little use. That's a definite improvement for me.

Hey I wiped cache and still the result is same attaching the battery drain not more than 10 hrs. Totally dissatisfied.

Help guys

10 hours on a full charge is pretty damn good battery life for the N5. Why is that a problem?
