Nexus 5 is better than the iPhone.

If the Z1 is anything like the Z, the viewing angles will be similar to the nexus 5. Not the best, but above average.

After a few days holding it (on the 2nd day for me) it felt better in the hand. I've just been used to holding my other phone in a tpu case. So I ordered a tpu case for the n5.

I Like the N5 better than iPhone 5s for videos.. Auto Focus with optical image stabilization (OIS) and Audio is much better with the N5. Also, with the 5s' auto focus you have to touch the screen to re-focus as you are taking the video.

Not quite. Phones like the G2 and iPhone are significantly faster. There are other phones out there, along with those two, that would do just fine with small kids.

The issue isn't the camera, its the software. Nexus camera software has never been great to begin with, and in this case its holding back the performance of an above average sensor.

I know how fast other phones can shoot, and they are all like going in reverse compared with a dslr.

The idea that any phone comes close, in terms of shooting response speed, is risible. Whether or not phones are capable of shooting small kids is another question, but I'm not sure why I would choose to make my life more difficult on that particular score. Everybody's mileage will vary on this on, I guess.

No one was claiming an iPhone or any phone will be as fast as a dSLR. Read it again.

Try using other camera apps

That is not a viable option for everyone. If you secure your device with a PIN or password, the only camera that you can launch from the lock screen is the stock camera. I have a Google Apps Account and the admins have decided that to receive email on our phones, we have to have a pin or password, so no matter what phone I have, I am basically stuck with the stock camera app. Not to mention, even if you aren't required to have a pin, it is a good idea to secure your phone.

No one said any phone approached the speed of a dSLR. Your claim that a dSLR was the only thing fast enough to capture children was all that was under fire. I agree that a dSLR is best for kids, but I am able to capture shots of my 19 month old on my HTC One just fine. My wife's iPhone does even better.

One thing (of the two things) that was great about the HTC Thunderbolt was the camera. Of course, the sound didn't work on video really until almost 6 months after it came out.. but it took some absolutely gorgeous photos of my daughter with very little effort on my part and my wife's shots were even better when she inherited that device from me. (The other thing was the kickstand, for those wondering, but not the dolby speaker underneath it). If I recall right, that was an 8MP with nothing really fancy going on. I know that many phones are better, but I really like not having to guess if "the Force is with me" when taking photos.

I think we can all agree what the real superior phone is here of all.

Windows Phone.

Lol :p

anybody else think the Nexus 5 is too big? I kinda thought the nexus 4 was too big.

This is something that can only be decided on an individual basis. I loved my N4 form factor. It's perfect imo. But I use my phone more and more like a computer now so I had to trade form factor for screen size.

The only way around it is to build it nearly completely without bezel but then again you're going to have to make another decision: do I want to have to always hold it by the edges or do I want some grip on the sides in landscape? Again, another individual preference decision.

I just sold my 32GB iPhone 5s today and got an LG Optimus G Pro. ...and I'll be ordering a 32GB Nexus 5 very soon. LG is impressing me as of late. Really.

G Pro

A friend with a iPhone 5s looked at my N5 and I was thinking she was using a tinker toy phone it so small with a 4.0 inch screen. I don't miss my iphone 4.

I did get the G2 first...wasn't feeling it. Went right back and got the G Pro. I got $640 for my iPhone.

How is it? I always thought it was weird that the G Pro was bigger than the G2 XD

I really like it. AT&T sold it to me for $400. Great screen, fast performance, super super easy root, removable battery, SD card capable that doesn't eat SD cards (*cough* Samsung *cough*).
