Naked or Case?

Re: Naked of Case?

I never drop my phones but I get a case anyways. I have the spigen ultra-hybrid and it's perfect. Covers the top, bottom, and corners and it has a clear back while still protecting it completely. Literally a perfect case. I just bought my mother the same one for her new 5s because it was so nice and perfect and it fit amazingly.

Defintiely recommend that case if you are looking for one.

Re: Naked of Case?

Why?...
I need it to be thicker to grip it better. I ordered a thin black/grey cruzerlite case to support the site. Also protection from moisture, light rain, dropping. My phones wouldn't last a month without some type of protection. With a case, I had an iphone 4 survive both a fall from a 2 story roof...and a Motorcycle crash that nearly killed me.(Collapsed lung, all the ribs on my left side broken) The case and the belt clip saved the phone a Kindly fireman handed me the phone while I sat recovering...and I was with bit of breathing trouble able to call work and tell them I couldn't be in...For 2 month's. Case all the way for me. I like to get the thin kind though. I don't care for the Otterboxes or bulky ones.I find time and time again the thin ones protect very well.

I also carry my phone on a belt clip and the cruzerlite and N5 still fits the belt clip that came with my GN case(Also from this site) The clip also provides more protection and has a kickstand which I have never used...

Re: Naked of Case?

I petrified to use my phone/tablet without a case. I'm one of those weirdos that has to keep their gear in the best possible condition...forever. Cases make that goal easier to achieve.

Using a case all the time 'cuz you might drop your phone is like wearing a cup everyday 'cuz you might accidentally get hit in the nads. Sure, it might happen, but trying to constantly guard against it takes away from the enjoyment of being free from such a restriction. To an extent, it's in your control to prevent it. Just be careful. But if it happens, it happens. It might hurt, but it's not the end of the world. I'd rather be free and comfortable. :-D

lol :D Exactly what is the restriction of using a case??? My buttons work the same(They are not covered) The screen looks the same...Hmm oh yeah gosh the back is covered with see through plastic, How can I stand to stare at this...What an awful looking back! Its so bad I'm just going to look at the screen from now on!

Re: Naked of Case?

I use a case. I bought the phone to get away from a cell contract and with the goal of saving money. I'm too OCD to have a device that I use daily have nicks, cracks or scratches. If I got any of those, I'd want to replace the phone which would defeat my purpose of saving money. I put on a screen protector before I even turned it on and the phone has been in a Spigen Ultra Hybrid Bumper case ever since.

Re: Naked of Case?

yesterday i had the white 32g nexus 5. after a little more than 24 hours with it, i knew i was going to have to get a case for it. just too slick. gloss black trim and hard shell plastic. i was really wishing i had ordered the black version. sooo....i put a trade offer on craigslist and within 30 minutes, got an offer for a straight trade for a 32g black nexus 5. just got home from finishing the trade about 30 minutes ago.

so, now that i have the black version of the nexus 5, naked, for sure.

Re: Naked of Case?

For my very first smart phone (a mytouch 4g) I tried a case because that seemed like what everyone was doing. I hated it! I couldn't properly touch some parts of the screen or the buttons and it always felt bulky and not like the phone that I had so much looked forward to getting.

And then one day I just decided maybe I would take it off...and the phone didn't suddenly explode or leap out of my hand. I dropped it several times since going caseless and the phone survived screen intact. And the phone felt sooo much better in hand.

So that was it for me and cases. My Gnex has been caseless and screen protector less since day 1 and it looks fine. Perfect? No. There are a few scratches on the screen but tiny ones that I never notice and honestly my Gnex is worth basically nothing anyway so I don't see the point in covering it up.

I skipped the nexus 4 because it looked like it did need a case for that glass back. The Nexus 5 looks it would be PERFECT without a case and that is how I plan to use it as soon as I get mine (which might take a while...)

Re: Naked of Case?

I'm naked but only because my cases I ordered haven't come in yet.

Re: Naked of Case?

I put a case on mine because it just felt slippery and just way too light for me... Usually I go completely naked on my phones... I don't like screen protectors either... I've been lucky in that not one of my smart phones has been dropped to where it got horrific damage.. Usually minor cosmetic scuffing... My original EVO I dropped and it landed screen first on the concrete and I almost had a heart attack but nothing... I was certain the screen/glass was smashed but it held up (Fell from my lap to the ground while getting out of my car)

Gonna drop it eventually... Just don't know when, where, why or how hard it's going to hit when it happens.... Even with a case at the right height and angle and depending on what it hits can destroy the phone anyway... I did it on the N5 because it just felt slick to hold....

Have you ever had a quality case like the Spigen Slim Armor that adds just 3 or 4 mm total to the whole phone thickness? It feels the same to me as naked. It looks like a phone that isn't in a case since it fits like skin. It is a little bigger but anyone that got a 5" phone isn't looking for a petite phone. What drives me nuts is when we have all these threads that will soon start popping up on this board about how much does it cost to replace my glass. Everyone drops their phone at some point if you have it long enough.

We get it some people think that it is Macho to go without protection but others have had to live with a damaged phone before that was too expensive to fix.
