Fortunately, all phones look about the same to him. And the Nexus 4 and 5 look very similar from the front. So I got a case so he would not know I bought a new phone.

Wow this just doesn't make sense, I would have picked up a difference b/t Pravda purse or some other brand, look at linens, pairs of strip, color, ex if it was the other way around lol

Well what matter, correct is that you accimished your mission and got your New Years gift earlier, enjoy your new Nexus 5. I returned mine b/c I had a combo of buyers remorse and a wobbling power button, but I think I might pick up the tmobile version when it releases on the 14th although I might end up paying $100 more in the end the initial down is minimum.

Can't even consider buying one of them off-brand rubber or plastic taccy ugly cases, let alone holding my phone in one. When I had a 9790 I considered buying an official leather holder for ?10 to keep it save while in my pocket, but didn't bother because it was fine.

Got the Spigen Slim Armor today in the mail. Feels like .... "medium weight"... protection. Not bad but I'm used to my Otterbox Defender from my iPhone.

I would love to take a picture except now my iPhone 4 is wiped clean (factory reset) and on sale on eBay since I'm keeping my Nexus.

I got the White version to show off the beauty and the matte finish does not scratch as easily as the iPhone 5 it replaces so I hope to enjoy the phone "naked"

I normally prefer my phone naked, but I'm convinced in going to scratch the camera lens, so I got the matte black Diztronic case.

That's exactly what I did with my GNex LOL. Dont have case for N5 yet but prob will end up like this again. "Weekend Cool" I guess ha!

just got my case for my nexus 5 from caseology today. brown/leather hybrid case. love it. beautiful. fits snug and perfect. i'll rock my case naked most of the time, but when i work, i got to have one.

Ditztronic TPU case for 90% of the time.
Champagne Gold Neo Hybrid from Spigen if I'm going out drinking or just feeling nervous.

I've got some light scuff marks on the back. I'm not complaining. I fully expect to see signs of wear and usage over time.

My half-dozen prior smartphones have all been in a case. All but my N4 had screen protection. Yeah, I got full re-sale value for them. I'll likely keep my N5 or give it to my son one day, so that's not an issue. Plus, I just got tired of being anal. I'm enjoying nudity!

I also have the spigen ultra-hybrid case on my N5, has anyone else noticed how easy the clear back scratches?

Even after day 1 of it being sat mainly on my desk at home it had scratches on it, now its full of them after a couple of weeks, pocked-to-desk activity...not a huge issue i guess as rather that than a scrached phone back!

I ended up with the gray bumper(yes the expensive one) directly from Google play. I like the case, it saved the phone from a drop in a parking lot. I could have gotten a cheaper case but this one looks and performs great.

I would recommend the black one, gray one is getting dirty fast but I like the look of the gray better.

Also for a screen protector, get the Rhino shield version. Its $30 but will take a beating.

I'd keep the speakers grilles and other openings away from the sand too.

I buy a case for a few reasons:

1- I like to browse case options and choose one that will stand out just enough, but still look classy. It's about personalizing the exterior appearance as well as the software.

2- I never drop my phone, but I know it will happen eventually. I've never had a screen shatter on any device for any reason. I don't need it to start happening now.

3- I like a slight heft to my phone, and the Nexus 5 is really light.

4- I don't plan to re-sell my phone, but if it was to get scratched or dinged up, I would ALWAYS look at the imperfection and it would bother me. And if I put a case over it, i'd still know it was there.
