Nexus 5 Wireless Charger

Do you realize the Nexus charger has a reusable adhesive back that firmly sticks it to the table so you don't have to use two hands when lifting it off the magnet?

Lol no I did not. That does in fact change things haha. I just opened the box, plugged it in, and went from there.

There are some reports of that charger causing the phone to overheat when charging if you keep the phone in landscape, I believe. I'd be careful with it and watch it when charging.
Not sure if it's a difference between phones, but I've been using this charger with my Nexus 4 and never had an overheating issue.

I have two of the Nexus 4 orbs that are Chinese knockoffs from fleebay for ~$25 shipped and a Nokia knockoff plate for `$15 that ALL work perfectly well. Never overheats and shuts off when fully charged. Can get a bit warm if streaming Netflix while charging but that's normal..it's never hot (like the Tylt Vu...). N4/N5 both with cases NEVER fall off of the orb and it's really great to have on your desk at work.

Just checked and that thing is by no means adhesive. It will not stick to a single table in my house.

Yeah. Whatever.

What does that even mean? I can't get it to stick to anything. Probably why I didn't know it was "adhesive"

When I read it has an adhesive bottom I was looking for something to peel. Then I realized...oh it is suppose to be adhesive from the get go and its not.

Did you peel the plastic off of the back?

It doesn't have any. This is what I am looking at and it sticks to nothing

I have 3 Nexus wireless chargers, one for home, one for work and one in my truck. They all have an adhesive back, which came with a peel off covering. Did you buy this brand new? It's possible you tried to stick it to something oily (like polished furniture), and reduced its stickiness. I think the manual that came with it told how to clean it if that happened. See the official Nexus link which states it has the adhesive back.

It was new and had the plastic wrap around the entire device. I was able to get it to stick to glass and a granite counter just now, but it is not sticking to wood...which is my night stand. I may try to RMA since it seems defective.

Thanks for the help though. I would have just lived with, what I thought, was normal and a decent charger at best.

If the wood has any oils on it at all, it won't stick well, if at all. But I believe you can clean it and return it's stickiness. Sorry it didn't work out.
