Cloud Print random crash message while in apps

This is the only thing that keeps popping up for me.... Outside that everything is perfect... but it's annoying to get this random message almost every time your using the phone and the screen is on.......

Are you on the latest build? LRX21O

I am and I just got that cloud print crash message while trying to check what build number I was on.... at least 3 times so far today..

I've had this problem with a couple phones this year. I live in socal and have really enjoyed a new phone, only to take it outside for a dog walk or something and realize I can't see the thing at all on full brightness. Instant deal breaker. Some of us live where it is super sunny!

It's funny you mention that... At lunch I always run and let my dogs out... Today I was out in the back yard with them and it's sunny and clear today here in Dallas and I have adaptive brightness on and I had no problems at all seeing the screen.. It's not June/July/August bright/hot outside but it was high noon and I didn't even think about it until I got back to work and read this.... I was out in the sun without even a slight issue or concern about not being able to see the screen..... Now I am going to have to go back out again and pay attention but it was no different than being on my Nexus 5 outside in the sunlight...

Thanks for the info on outside display viewing. I'm still researching Nexus 6. I've read if you turn off Adaptive Brightness it becomes even brighter. I'll be at Sprint tomorrow to play with one. :D

Now you want to talk about funny.... After reading your comment I said to myself "Maybe I should double check that adaptive brightness is on." and so I did and it is on... I turned it off and the screen got dimmer... I mean it dropped down dark....... I'm in my office under these bright fluorescent bulbs.... Looks like when I turn it off the brightness slider is set to about 50% so I am guessing it dropped down to that from whatever the adaptive brightness was set at....

and just to be sure I turned it on and off multiple times and in the off setting it goes darker.... Most comments I am reading is you have to turn it off and jack the brightness up to make it brighter and it seems like I am having the opposite affect????

Hmmm.......... lol

Few issues I have found so far:

  • Battery Life (2.5 hours screen on time and down to 17%)
  • Cloud Print random crash message while in apps
  • Speakers are loud when on high volume, and too quiet when below 50% (could just be me being picky, but my Lumia 1520 is extremely loud, and the speaker is audible even on the lowest setting)

Hoping future Android L updates helps with the battery, that is my biggest concern so far.

Cloud Print CONSTANTLY crashes so I just disabled it since I don't ever expect to "cloud print".

Cloud print crashes....other than that I haven't seen anything else.

I just disabled it thanks to another post.

I seem to remember one review that said adaptive brightness can get even brighter than cranking it all the way up manually, when it needs to. Maybe once you turn it on it's better to leave it on, but who knows. It does sound kind of glitchy.

Wasn't until earlier I turned it off.. I remember when I got it under the display settings noticing it was "ON" and left it alone... but considering being outside in my yard on a sunny bright day didn't affect my ability to easily see the display I had to go back and look at it.... and then I turned it off in a bright office and it actually got very dim.....

My screen is super bright.... I just changed my back ground to something with more color and now it's even BRIGHTER.... It's one of the default wallpapers but it's one with a lot of red and and WOW... it just pops...... maybe even brighter than the Nexus 5 I have.... I need to get the same wall paper on both and see...

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but when I get a notification for a message on ambient display I get an error message when I double touch the notification to open it. It always says that the system ui closed. Not sure why this is happening but it annoying. This is with the most recent update that Google has pushed out. I am not sure if this is limited to the messages app or if its with each app but I hope this gets fixed soon.

Yeah, it's supposed to pop the lock mechanism and then the app.

Thanks for all this info. I have been waiting to decide between Note 4 or Nexus 6 and if this one keeps showing signs of not being as good as many expected, believe I will get the Note 4.

I hear ya Kronko, I am also disappointed in the Nexus 6. Not a bad device but overall it's meh. Glad I am keeping my htc one m8 GPE :)

The only problem I'm having is the cloud print crashing like most everyone else. I couldn't set up Google voice, and kept getting an error, but it actually works when I tested it.

I also had that cloud print crashing issue until I cleared cache and app data. It seems to have helped.

Also my charger does not seem to be working appropriately. It just stops charging even though the icon says it's connected. It can't be the phone as my other chargers work just fine.

Looks like I have to call Google to send me a replacement charger.

I kept on getting the cloud print crashing message. Once I downloaded the ota that I received I haven't seen that message at all. Are you on the latest build? LRX21O

Yes, it is on the latest.

A couple of questions.

There is only the option to Power Off and not do a Restart. Is that a Moto thing or Nexus thing?

I had and then lost the option to have no screen lock. It did say "None" on the list and now it is no longer there. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks.

Mav.

Am I the only one having an issue with how low the voice quality is when talking to someone? I'm on T-Mobile.
