Nexus 6: Complaints, bugs & gremlins thread.

Now you want to talk about funny.... After reading your comment I said to myself "Maybe I should double check that adaptive brightness is on." and so I did and it is on... I turned it off and the screen got dimmer... I mean it dropped down dark....... I'm in my office under these bright fluorescent bulbs.... Looks like when I turn it off the brightness slider is set to about 50% so I am guessing it dropped down to that from whatever the adaptive brightness was set at....

and just to be sure I turned it on and off multiple times and in the off setting it goes darker.... Most comments I am reading is you have to turn it off and jack the brightness up to make it brighter and it seems like I am having the opposite affect????

Robbie:

After you turn off adaptive display, you need to go back to the notification window settings and check where the brightness slider is. My guess is that when you turned off adaptive brightness the default setting was lower. So basically, the brightness slider will not stay in the same position it was in when adaptive display was on. See if this fixes the problem.

Thank you....

Yes the slider was set to about 60% brightness.... A lot of people were saying adaptive brightness was causing dimmer screens and you had to turn it off and basically manually adjust your screen brightness... Based off a lot of back and forth on here I just expected the screen to get brighter when adaptive brightness was off vs on.... I think my screen is super bright even with adaptive brightness on... I've had no issues in dark room or out in the bright sunlight...

Does anyone's sound seem to fade in and out?

I have tried to wrap my head around the new silent mode- none, priority, all. This is driving me crazy.

None is the old silent mode but will take the additional step if silencing even alarms which just seems asinine.
This leaves priority with a lot of ground to cover and ultimately I have decided to make this the old silent mode by ignoring everything but alarms.

I don't like it. I understand it is more flexible, but it is not flexible enough to replace Tasker or locale and you lose the 1 touch convenience.

Otherwise, the n6 is meeting or exceeding expectations and I am really thrilled with it.

that's the same complain on the Android Central podcast, and I agree with them. I understand they want us to use priority mode, or the none function, but sometimes I just want the sound off and still have notification come in. they made something simple into much more complicated.

A couple of questions.

There is only the option to Power Off and not do a Restart. Is that a Moto thing or Nexus thing?

I had and then lost the option to have no screen lock. It did say "None" on the list and now it is no longer there. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks.

Question 1. This is a nexus thing. When I got the nexus 4 I was annoyed it wasn't an option and it hasn't ever been added in so yeah.

Some of you love it, others have doa crp. Oh boy quality control issues...I hope not.

I get it about the material design and all, but don't you guys think this has too much white? It makes my eyes hurt. All the screens in the settings app is uh blinding.
The frgn dialer is almost pure blinding white. It needs to darken some...er a lot.

This is like every new nexus that comes out. There are some issues at first, but they get taken care of quickly. Most all the top devs love this phone and they work real fast
to fix stuff. Is probably the number one reason I get a new nexus every year, the developer scene on this phone is second to none.
This whiteness will get fixed real soon with the themers working on it.
You gotta do the unlock and root trip to take advantage of all this though.
I will root and unlock however long it takes to get the usb cable to the phone and type 'fastboot oem unlock' in the command box....about 2 minutes haha

Cloud Print Crashes. It worked great on my Nexus 5. Sucks not being able to use it right now, as HP's eprint is clunky.

The answer to your first question is that it is a Nexus thing. To answer your second question let me ask... Do you use a pin for your phone? If so, when you first created your pin the phone did ask if you wanted to require a pin to start the device. I believe that if you selected this option it may be the reason why you don't see the 'none' option any longer.

I hope someone can help me but it seems that whenever I install another SMS app on the Nexus 6 (Sprint), 2 out of 3 times when I send a text, the other person receives it between 2-6 times. If I use the stock Google Messenger or Hangouts, it doesn't happen. Once I install a third party SMS application, it does. Even if I remove it, and then go to hangouts, the duplicate texts continue. The only way to fix is to remove all SMS applications (including hangouts), re-install hangouts and Google Messenger and then it works.

I touched on a thread named "Sprint N6 delayed SMS".

Anyone have problems with screen rotation? I always keep my phones in portrait lock but when I have it set on my nexus 6 the screen still rotates.

Bluetooth connection to headphones automatically causes last used music app to immediately start playing. I hate that, I don't want anything automated

I'm sure this is a Lollipop issue, but the "guest user" or "removed user" taking up a lot of batter usage and cpu wake

mine responds correctly.

Maybe I'm just not used to the Ambient display feature (or whatever it's called), but it seems I don't often get notifications to just pop up. By that I mean I have a TYLT wireless charger that I'm using at work, and my phone is there for probably 80% of the day. If a notification comes in, I don't see it unless I power on the display. Is this just me not being accustomed to Ambient display, or is there a bigger issue here?

And I've verified Ambient display is turned on. Frankly, if this is how the feature "works," I'd rather have a notification LED.

I believe it works by having the phone face down and picking it up, or having the phone face up and picking it up.

I'm really not getting Ambient display. I see it light up, but of course, I miss reading what it says. So I pick up the phone. Still dark. I shake the phone. Still dark. I fumble for the power button. It turns out to be an email advertising a sale. I have many email addresses. On my previous phone, I could assign which email I would get notifications for and it would ignore the others. I really only want to be notified if one address receives an email.

Also, I thought I had the Priority set up correctly. I have times set, 7 days a week, during the night. Using custom, I starred family & neighbors to allow them to call during the blocked out times. At 12:47am last night I get a notification. It was from Amazon, they are having a shoe sale.. I don't have Amazon in my contacts and it certainly isn't starred.

Yeah, exactly. It's a consistency issue for me. Ironically, I had a notification pop up as expected after I posted this, but then another came a few minutes later and didn't (and the phone hadn't moved--it was on the TYLT the whole time). I'm thinking about perhaps trying out ACDisplay, at least until they work out whatever kinks there seem to be here.
