I'm really trying to get into the Nexus 6. The UI performs soooo fluidly but I find myself reaching for my note for the ir blaster or to play music I've had stored on my micro sd.

It may be the most fluid UI I've ever experienced but I can't say it's that much better than the n4. thinking about swapping it for a s6, possible an edge?

Still haven't completely given up on the n6.

I was in the same situation as you. I had the Note 4 and the Nexus 6 came out and I wanted to give it a try. I had the Nexus 6 for a week or so and I went back to my Note 4. The Nexus 6 was super fast but the Note 4 to me just had what I wanted. I use smart select a ton, the camera on the Note 4 is just way better IMO than the Nexus 6. I don't use my SD card at all so that wasn't a bother to me. Oh and I also use the IR blaster a ton on my Note 4. I just pre-ordered my S6 yesterday and should get it on Tuesday.

It's really hard to forget how well the Nexus 6 works. I wish there was a workaround for the ir blaster..

Literally just stopped by best buy and played with the s6/edge. Idk man, the screens feels so small and compared to my Note 4 I don't see a difference in UI fluidity. Recent apps seemed a tad bit quicker but other than that. Maybe I'll stick with the Nexus or check out the m9

I have a note 4 and use the nexus as my daily. I don't know how anyone could go to an s6 from a note 4 or nexus. Step back to me with screen size. I love the s pen hardest part to give up but the nexus is so smooth and I love stock and lollipop 5.1 has been great. I put all my music on Google cloud so it's always there. Seems like the SD card is a dying feature especially if Samsung is going away from it.

I'm going through this right now. I was on the note 4 but got tired of the lag on it and waiting for updates. Grabbed a N6 and I find the hardest thing is no S pen. I still have my N4 and Co tongue to hope when VZW updates to 5.1 they fix the nagging issues. Meanwhile this Nexus continues to fly around every day and never has any issues. The Nexus is my daily driver bite and the note just sits on my desk.

I decided to sell my note 4 and iPhone 6 plus just today and only use the nexus. It's been a long time since I've been this completely happy with a device. Screen is not as good as the note but it's still really good. I love the size of the screen and feel of the nexus. I just bought the nexus oh a whim didn't expect to enjoy it so much.

IR blaster = useless.

SD card & locally I stored music = antiquated.

Nexus 6 FTW.

Why would I want to actively depend on an internet connection just to listen to music that, with an SD card, or enough onboard storage I could have with me? I wonder, is this a generation Y thing?

Why would you want to be dependent on a phone to listen to your music when you can play it on your Walkman that you already own?

I am not sure how the IR Blaster is useless to those who use. Maybe to you it is useless or maybe you think it is useless because you have never used it on a phone. Don't know.

The Nexus 6 was pretty nice when I used it but it pushed the limits for my single handed texting. It was just a little too wide for me and the screen was just not as good as the Note 4's. Too each his own though, I am running a custom ROM on my Note 4 so I don't have any lag like most people. I will keep my Note 4 for a while to see how I like the S6, I just like being able to text with one hand. I can do it on the Note 4 but barely, plus I switch devices every few months so who knows what I will have in a couple of months.

Everyone's experience will certainly vary.

In my case, the IR blaster would be useless. All my home devices, including AV receiver and TiVo boxes, have IP based controlling for when I don't feel like using my regular remote.

I haven't stored any data on a micro SD in the longest time. For those saying "why should I rely on an active Internet connection to listen to music?", you don't have to. You can use Google Music to store your songs in the cloud and locally cache whatever you feel like listening to at any given time. Gives you same experience as storing on an SD card (offline playback) and with less hassle.

Agreed on the SD Card debate. I have a 64GB card in my Note 4 and it is empty and has been since I put it in the phone. I came to the conclusion a long time ago that I have nothing to hide and put everything in the cloud. Photos, Music, and Documents all on my Google account. I can access them anywhere I want whenever I want. Google is SkyNet in disquise so why fight it!

If you want to keep your music on an SD card, why not use Meenova or something similar? I don't have the N6 (yet), but with the Meenova and Nexus Media Importer app it will work, right?

When you say google music are you referring to Google play music or something else?
