Re: nexus 6p battery

Didn't read this whole thread, but was wondering how many are charging overnite leaving it plugged in for several hours. I'm hearing this charger is fast but don't want to have to worry about not starting my day with anything less than 100% so don't have to take a cable with me. Sometimes I'm short of time and running out the door in the morning. Every other phone I've always charged overnite no problem. Never had the type "C" cable before. Any issue doing an overniter anyone think? Charger should shut off when full I should think.

No problem charging overnight, just like your other phones. It will stop charging when it's fully charged.

Just got my 6P! My first run has been decent, 3.5 hrs SOT over 17 hours with 25% left. That's with everything on except for Bluetooth, 50% auto brightness, and location services on high accuracy. It's not as good as the Droid Turbo 2 I ditched for this phone but very acceptable.

I have a couple of questions though: Since the phone wasn't new, does battery life have to settle in again after just a factory reset? I'm hoping so since while the battery life I got was decent, it isn't as good as some of the others I've seen in this forum. Also, for some reason the battery drained noticeably faster when downloading over WiFi (restoring my media from cloud storage). Has anyone else noticed this?

I took mine off the charge yesterday at 11:20 and literally all day i was on netflix/ig/browsing the web and it dropped to 3% at 9:10 with about 6.5 hours of on screen time great great great

I've only had the 6p for a week, but on two occasions I've woken up to find the battery not at 100% (after at least 7 hours). It looks like it wasn't a question of there not being enough time in the night, but that for some reason it just stopped charging at around 80%:

Has anyone else seen this?

As a 2015 MXPE owner, I'm very jealous of the battery life you guys are getting. 5 or 6 hours of SOT is just unheard of. I don't recall getting more than 3.

Hi guys!! i have been using My nexus 6P for over a month now, its battery was fine till march security update ,after that it has started draining like crazy on 3G and biggest drain shows whatsapp, i can literally see the percentages falling while browsing/whatsapp on 3G. on wifi battery seems fine, i have factory reset it, but the quick drain persists. please help!!

I don't know how you guys are getting that high of SOT, maybe its because I'm on Verizon but if I don't use the phone much my battery will last like 15 hours, if I have 1 hour of SOT my battery doesn't seem to last that long. I call Google and all they can say is either boot into Safe mode and see if it's a app that is using too much battery or factory reset I shouldn't have to do either of that. If anyone has any thoughts I'm all ears.

Hey guys,
I'm not too sure what is going on but I'm only getting 3 hours of screen on time and only 8 hours through the day until i need to plug in. I have Facebook uninstalled, background sync turned off for Google apps, and not much else. This has been going on for quite a while and I'm not entirely sure why. Tried clearing cache and uninstalling old apps but no dice. Mg screen brightness is at 50% and I use dark mode as often as possible. I don't play games and when my screen is on I'm normally texting and watching YouTube.

There are still a few apps that seem to cause issues. Two that seem to frequently cause issues are Weatherbug and GasBuddy. I tried GasBuddy earlier this month and, while it had improved quite a bit, after a week or so it started causing quite a bit of battery drain. As mentioned, Facebook is another app that causes issues. An app like GSam or Wakelock Detector can help -- though you need your phone rooted to get completely accurate information. Much of the problem is that apps use the Android libraries for many of their actions, particularly for the actions which cause wakelocks, causing the actions to be reported as Android itself causing the drain and not the app.

Any suggestions? I leave Bluetooth on for Android wear and my tile, same goes for GPS. Screen brightness is at 25%. Not a heavy gamer except Alto. I watch YouTube a bit but normally in the background. Do you think downloading the YouTube videos using Red will decrease battery drain? Doze works fine.

Ii got under 2 hours of SOT today. Some days it's good and some days not so much. Battery life is good but not great.

Yeah, came to this thread again since my battery has started sucking the last few days. Lucky to get 3 hours SOT now and I was regularly getting 4 to 5. Going to check some of the recently updated apps to see if maybe they are misbehaving.

Adding to my post above, Android service and Android os are the 2 biggest drains after screen. Going to clear cache and see

I swear since the March security update my battery life has lessened noticeably...
