Nexus 6P Microphone Problem

Anyone had the issue fixed with a replacement? Because this is getting very annoying, I cannot put the phone on my shoulders

I assume you're doing this because you're hands are busy? Is there a reason like other other people in the area that you don't want listening that you can't just set it down and switch to speaker phone?

I don't know if anyone has reported this one, but on mine, when I'm receiving a call, the caller says that there's a scratching sound right when I answer it. The volume and such seems OK though. Thinking of calling Huawei (I bought it from them, not Google Store) to see what they can do.

I work in an open space office, so it's not very respectful to use speaker while my colleagues are working and sometimes I would rather keep the conversation private instead of sharing it with everyone. So 90% of the time I am in front of my laptop while on the call as I need to type in the same time so I put my phone on my shoulder as I type.

What I do not understand is how many reviewers tested this device for over a week and could not figure out this issue.

I caught onto it within 2 days. Just need to make a couple of calls to figure out their is an issue.

Most people don't talk on phones anymore... they test games, test apps, test signal, speed, battery, screen, etc.

Okay so you exchanged it and you have no issue anymore?

Well that's sad because it's still a phone at the end of the line

Has anyone had this issue and received a replacement that resolved the problem?

I have had my phone for a couple of weeks and my wife always mentions the bad (muffled) sound when I call her. I am just curious if a warranty exchange could resolve it.

Same issue here. No case on the phone, had the phone right next to my face in a fixed position and it kept cutting out. Disconnected and reconnected the call to ensure it wasn't a connection issue and after 2 minutes of talking it continued to the point we had to hang up. This was on normal handset mode, did not try speakerphone. I'm hesitant to RMA if it is like this for all phones.

Anyone else have success?

I received my replacement a couple days ago and I'm not having any problems with the microphone so I definitely suggest getting one. I'm guessing it's a hardware issue and is only affecting a few devices.

Thank you for your update will exchange my device

Upon further testing my mic phone call quality is fine. For regular calls and speaker phone. For regular calls you do kind of have to be a bit close to the front mic but I don't feel its that bad at all.

Thanks for confirming, flumdog & gcortes824.

I'll give it a shot and post an update when I have a replacement.

So far I have been okay. The worst thing I have had happen is 1 dropped call. All my calls are VoLTE (T-Mobile).

I'm having the same problem but I've noticed that it only happens when by mistake i cover the back microphone (i belive the noise cancellation one) every time the other person complain that it can't hear me i realised the back microphone was covered with my finger wich for me it's a natural way of holding the phone. Anf it's really frustrating that i can't hold the phone the way I want to. Every time you have yo do something that involved both hand and you keep your phone on your shoulder it happens again.

I've noticed that, as well. When on a call and the back microphone gets covered, the person on the other end says they have trouble hearing me. Not worth an RMA for, but still worth noting.

I'm starting to have this issue. The back mic does not appear to be covered by my case though...how long do we have to do a RMA?
