You are only on number 20? I just finished exchanging number 43 yesterday. I bought all the N7 on south Florida and all of them have defects.

Thanks a bunch! Can you come up to Michigan and clear out all the defective stock here? You have the makings of a great quality control specialist. I think ASUS's problem is it outsourced Quality Control to China. Heck, what does a 6 year old QC inspector really know!

I'm still on my first and only unit, so keep up the good work!

I ordered mine from Google and have been using it heavily for a week now. This is my first foray into Android devices as a long time iPhone user. So far, I'm pretty happy with it and haven't run across any of the defects mentioned in this thread. Keeping my fingers crossed. I'm definitely loving the customizations available under Android that the iPhone can't touch, widgets, app icon placement, not limited to 12 apps in a folder, and my favorite.... Setting alternative apps as launch defaults for various actions. I've got a Bluetooth keyboard case coming today or tomorrow and can't wait. Already got my waterproof case for logging / planning my SCUBA dives on the spot.

Well, I'm not diving with my tablet, just using it on the boat in between dives to log and plan next dive. The waterproof case is so I don't get it wet while using it or if water splashes into the boat and soaks our gear.

Bummer. My unit bought on 8/10 at Office Depot is showing screen rise along the edge as it runs between the camera and the power button. It has a nice popping sound if you press it back into place. I think I will wait to do an exchange for a week or so to hopefully get one from a newer production run.

This. Thank you for posting this. I am thinking about getting an N7 myself. Not that I need it or have a specific use for it, just think it would be cool. Just having a hard time justifying spending the money on it, even if it is a fantastic price for the tablet.

I have a Gnex, so the heads up about the screen colour is much appreciated. (Just hoping that if/when I take the leap I don't have any quality issues with it)

My pleasure. Trust me, you'll barely use your GNex if you get an N7. You wouldn't think a 7 inch tablet would provide a terribly different user experience than a smartphone with a 4.65 inch screen, but it really does. My GNex is now used solely when WiFi is not available.


As for the screen color accuracy, I really think you'll be impressed by it. I realized how truly off the GNex's screen is (despite being bright and pretty) when I looked at a picture of my house on it..it looked like a cartoon version of the place I grew up. Viewed the same picture on my Nexus 7, and felt like I was standing in my front yard looking at it. Bright and saturated colors can be nice, but I'm starting to have a real preference for a more accurate experience..I think I'll be aiming to avoid AMOLED screens from now on if I can.

I know specs are better then my ipad 2 (It is well over a year old) but i couldnt give up the screen size. It has replaced my Desktop and Laptop only time i use a computer it when Jailbreaking/Rooting/Flashing Roms ect...

100% agree except I got mine from Google this morning. My iPhone has been sitting untouched all day! I have even answered calls on my nexus 7 using google voice so no need to even look at that pesky iPhone, haha!

I'm having a blast playing with this device. I have the C70 SSN so no problems to report thus far!

Sorry.. but these are junk.... in the ASUS build quality area.

I kept my first one for 4 weeks even with the touch screen going out whenever it wanted... reboot helped. Hoped future models would be updated

Picked up my second one yesterday.... Light bleed....Screen feels warped... and dead pixels..

I bought 4 Kindle fires for myself and family members on the week they came out and none have had any issues. So for $199...$249... you don't have to be junk.

This one is going back... and I am all done with ASUS

I am done as well with ASUS, returned number 21 yesterday. It was a C70, very minimal screen rise but it had a flicker every minute or so when reading books or browsing, it literally gave me a headache to use the tablet.

Sorry but the quality of these are beyond pathetic.
