Nexus positive and negative

The pull down menu doesn't let you turn auto control off. You have to go deeper into settings, and then the slider bar changes will stick. It got much brighter after i did that.

Try replacing the background photo and maybe you wont feel that way about the display....
Lol. I played with the phone for 30 minutes. I used every app, settings and wallpaper.
The screen is total garbage. I left wanting to re-buy the N5 that I sold last week.
Not impressed.

They don't take kindly to negative words about this phone around here.

I just want to have a great screen and battery, with a nice fluid user experience.
Do you think I'll get that?
.....

i think you will. Maybe. More than likely. Perhaps.

But keep this in mind during your 14 day trial IF you decide to get it. Most ppl start out saying, "i only need my phone to do this, that & the other thing" if it does, that will "tick all my boxes"... Then on the 15th day, the "niggles" begin to become "OBSTACLES" and you're "contentment" grows into "frustration and you begin to feel stuck"! . At least, that is how it is for me and basically "human nature" from what i read around here. My honest opinion is make your short list contain MORE than just those 3 things, and make sure at least 90% of them are met by the device you get.

Some might say EVERY device has compromises and that is true to an extent, but the flagships out right now EXCEL in just about every direction, with virtually little faults...Nexus 6 is priced like the rest, but it is outshone in many areas EXCEPT ONE....Vanilla Lollipop .....$650+ is a lot to pay for a device that has about 1 REALLY GREAT thing going for it and like 5-6, "moderate to substantial" things against it.....

BTC

Those 3 really are what i want out of this device, along with of course being good with phone calls.
I know I want a big screen and no skins and timely updates.
Wife has a 6+ plus so I'm good with camara.

I'll post my opinions. Not saying you're wrong or anything, this is totally subjective.

Nexus advantages:
Biggest screen

Nope, Sony Xperia Z Ultra, which is 6.44".

On screen buttons

I actually don't like this, as it makes the screen something like 5.85" instead of the full 5.96". Plus, I can find physical buttons in the dark. I'll accept software buttons if they implement whatever they're calling the double tap to wake feature from the LG G line/HTC One line/Nexus 9.

Two speakers
Pure lollipop
Feels great in the hand

All good things.

Wireless charging

Does it work is the question. MKBHD couldn't get it to wirelessly charge with the Nexus Wireless Charger. Granted, that was the only one he had, but qi is universal.

Negatives:
Single antenna. No voice and data unless VoLTE.

Wait, what? Not even 2G/3G/4G (non-LTE) antennas? Oops, read that "and" as an "or".

Screen not at bright and colorful as note 4

Also not as oversaturated.

Camera ok, but slow with HDR on

I have a DSLR for that. I don't take selfies and I only use the camera for the flash feature, as in a flashlight.

Opening gallery is incredibly slow (at least 5 seconds to show Thumbnails - what was that about?)

See above, although nothing should be slow to load with that 805 and stock Android. Maybe because of the new OS?

No multi-window

Google should've taken more advantage of that ginormous screen.

No stylus

Meh, seems like a feature that 90% of people don't use. The rest of the 10% use it all the time, though.

Only Android Wear, no Gear with speaker phone.

Gear's always been restricted to Galaxy smartphones. Gear is also expensive, has very few apps, runs proprietary software and is not made by Google.

I think I'll buy a Nexus 6, anything will be lightyears better than my long-overdue-for-an-upgrade iPhone 4.

I've decided to definitely give the Nexus a trial for a couple weeks. The only other phone I would consider is the Note 4, but I think the Note 4 is so ugly I just can't stand it. The Note 2, which I have, looks so much better. The Note 4 is too rectangular with harsh corners, ugly silver sides, Samsung labeling on the front, etc. The Nexus looks like a phone Batman would use - black, smooth, shiny, and beautiful. The Note 4 actually looks bigger to my eyes when it is sitting on the table because of its harsh corners. If the Nexus turns out to be a let down, then I will upgrade in 6-12 months by selling it and buying something else.

No infrared (IR) port is a negative.

Coming from an HTC ONE (M7), I have become dependent upon using it as my remote. A deal-breaker.

Oops, watch out. There's others on here that won't take that kind of Note 4 criticism lightly. Sammy boyz love it here in the N6 forum! LMAO

Negative: mediocre battery performance. I realize that YMMV, but when seasoned, I love Android reviewers are saying, "Meh" to the battery, this is a concern. Yes, there's quick charge - if you have the special cord with you and you can leave you phone hooked up to the wall for 15-30 minutes. Will you have the special cord when sitting at your local pub?

Change "Screen not as bright as the Note 4" to the "Note 2". This is unacceptable in a 2014, almost 2015 phone.

Biggie for me, the damn thing will teeter when sitting on a flat surface.

I will not cancel my order, but I'm disappointed that the N6 and Note 4 have many of the same specs and the N6 can't produce the same results as the Note 4. In the end, the Nexus may drive me back to the Note series and I say shame on Nexus. Unless I'm pleasantly surprised, the N6 isn't a worthy of being called a flagship phone.

Thanks for the tip - couldn't figure out why my Nexus 7 was so much less bright after the lollipop update. Turned off adaptive brightness and it's way better now!
