Nexus S worthy of being called a Google Phone?

Does the Nexus S seem to live up to the Nexus name and status?

If it comes to Best Buy a lot of people would like to just say " Nexus S" and be asked "What carrier?" however I don't see em all coming out at once if it is even coming to all carriers, we know it's GSM and T-Monile is the carrier( wow Google loves T-Mobile)

Tmo gave google their start so I don't blame them. Plus it seems like they have the most relaxed testing process. Shoot I doubt if we will ever see this phone on say verizon they would want to put their grubby fingers in it and lock it down or add bloat

If the many many many rumors are true about the iPhone going to Verizon, I doubt Apple let Verizon load up their phone with carrier-ware. And now that Android is so big, hopefully they can have the same leverage.

/speculation

I doubt it the iphone out sells every droid branded phone by itself. I don't think you will see it on the iphone but an android phone will get carrier-ware

There are several phones that will come out shortly with similar or better specs than the Nexus S phone (I understand we dont have the full details) but no one phone will have a huge advantage spec-wise over the rest since they will all have access to the same chips. Hardware matters but the software is what will put it over the others.
