NFL mobile Oct1 no worky

I did the uninstall reinstall at 330 and it worked. Just tried to use it again and got the paid subscription screen again. Has this happened to anyone who does not have the gb ota?
 
I just called them. They said if you have the friends and family feature then the NFL mobile and other vcast apps won't work. I had them remove the friends and family and now works flawlessly.

I have a family plan including wifey but no idea if I have friends and family feature nor what it is. I have no friends or family besides wife so I don't think I need it whatever it is.

Friends and Family allows you to choose up to 10 (I think,10) non-vzw numbers to be free calling both ways. It is only available on Family plans costing $79.99mo. There is no extra charge.

I've got it and NFL Mobile is working fine for me. I just downloaded it.

It seems to work shortly after reinstall,but when you exit the app and reopen it state that you must pay the $10 VCAST fee.
 
It might have been "with purchase of a new 4G phone" or something.

Verizon Wireless 4G LTE smartphone customers have access to NFL Mobile premium, including all video, for the entire season. Customers with 3G smartphones who want even more NFL video can subscribe to Verizon Video for $10/month.

Doesn't say anything about new. I assume they did something to the app to block 3g customers, as their free ride has come to an end, and in traditional fashion Verizon got something wonky. Call or write an email. Hopefully VZW will get around to fixing this Monday. Until then you can unlimitedly re install to watch video. Come on, it's not like any of us thought that Verizon would promise is something cool and have it work at the same time.
 
On the phone with tech support as I type. They're still saying app is "free" but I have to pay for vcast to get it.

Latest excuse is its free but I have to pay to watch red zone. I'm waiting for supervisor now....

One of them asked if it said 4g at the top. I said no I'm on wifi. She said I have to be on 4g! I asked for tech support but no improvement. Been on hold long enough to type all this. I wonder I'd I even got tech support or just the girl next to her.

Any suggestions of what to say next? What do ypu wanna bet she says to do a factory reset and call back?

Just uninstall and re-install. I have done it 3 times and it works again after giving me the subscription thing after I exit the app. Sadly the reps have no clue....that's why i started this thread b/c I know the forums have the answers that verizon doesn't.

I have f&f too it has zip to do with it. it works everytime after uninstall & re-install.
 
And if we fail to communicate this info it wont be fixed in the next update! They don't even believe me when I say it is supposed to be free.

Spoke to "supervisor" who said tbolt was left off of most recent list of qualified phones. He promised me a credit if I am charged and filed a ticket however he said it works.fine for people in office with tbolts so"it might be an issue with juwt your phone" I swore I'm discussing it with many others but it isn't penetrating. Imo the more.of us who call and ask for supervisor the better the chances are this issue will be addressed. He was not willing to admit it has anything to do with the ota.

Do you folks.want to have to uninstall and reinstall every time you want to use this app? What if you get the pay screen in the middle of a game? Raise heck or issue will NOT be addressed!

Works fine on my GB TBolt. Just had to set up a VZW online account. The process said nothing about charges.
 
That's how it is supposed to work but this isn't only happening to me. Did you ever use it before? Maybe brand new users are ok. Keep in mind it doesn't try to charge for watching video clips..only live tv like redzone or Sunday night football game.

I was on a 3G connection on my TBolt while installing and watching the live game. At one point I was prompted to connect to Wifi, I didn't. The app actually played very well on 3G. Anyway, I wonder if you connected with 4G if that would matter. It shouldn't. The TBolt is a 4G phone no matter how you connect. But... could be a bug I guess... I dunno... Seems more likely that VZW just hasn't "turned it on" for the TBolt yet. I did notice that the TBolt was not on the list on the news release -- but the Bionic was???? This was the Sep 2nd news release. Forgot the TBolt? I didn't see any other 4G phones on the list. Maybe I didn't look hard enough.

On another note: maybe you weren't polite enough? :D :D JUST KIDDING!!!!

They said that the thunderbolt is approved all you have to do is subscribe to Verizon Vcast. She told me that it is free for 4g phones and if I'm charge to call back when I get my bill to get a credit.
 
I must admit I became less and less polite as excuses became more and more ridiculous. (I interrupted but never used profanity) From app is free but you must pay for redzone to app is free but you must pay for vcast to u must be on 4g (app recommends wifi) to tbolts aren't on free list.

It has never mattered before how you are connected (3g, 4g, wifi all worked). This is some sort of glitch. I thought it must be the ota but another user says his is fine so I don't know.

I do know this....if vzw doesn't get dozens of calls on this it will never be fixed.

And if this were the universal response we'd be fine but half of the reps I spoke to would NOT admit this is free for tbolt. Hope she wrote it down in your account notes for when you call back.

I think when VZW accounting gets involved with having to apply a bunch of credits for malfunctioning software, that will be the best catalyst there is for getting it fixed. Same goes for Voicemail Notifications when people signed up for VVM and got credited. Somehow VZW's Business Ops gets a tad more attention than their technical department or CS reps, I think. :)

You're assuming a lot of us ASK for credits. Even if we do many wont call for a month when they see the charges. Even more will constantly uninstall and reinstall to avoid pay screen. I suspect those who never used nfl mobile before and just installed it wont run into this problem at all. Seems to happen only to people who had nfl mobile and used it before.
In any event they DESERVE to be bombarded with complaints!

Everone who calls gets a different "answer". Every rep I spoke to gave ME a different answer. Its crazy.
 
If you go to the NFL mobile app under application settings and clear data the app will work again until restart.
