No flash got you down? Try this fix

Being old and simple, some of these seem a bit complicated to me. I've downloaded the Flash APK's (looks like 11.1.111.5 is the latest I've found) but I've also got Sock Monkeys two APK's as well.

I also have the new Galaxy Nexus, which came with ICS, the stock browser, and Flash, all of which still work just fine. Can I get the google browser APK off of it and install it as well as the Flash APK and it'll work just like it does on my phone?

Phone is now running 4.1.1 and everything still works just fine, stock browser, flash, the works. Seems like this might be the easy way?

Thanks in advance (sorry about the foot Sock Monkey), but it is terribly handy that it's made you kind of a "captive audience"!

:)

Use the xscope browser. Plays 720p flash with the best level of smoothness and has the best loading speed.

Hey man, thanks for the hint about Xscope! Works like a charm, no magic or anything. Pops right into landscape mode, portrait mode whatever. Ditched Aurora which was flaky as hell anyway, along with the Firefox Beta from the Play Store. Only need it for flash, but it is a nice clean and simple browser as well,, may just switch over to it.

I went with the stock browser side loaded. Need to be rooted to edit a few apk file names but it works as if you were still on ice cream.

Same here. By far the best option.

Anyone seen the issue i mentioned earlier in this thread where the flash installer says the application was not installed?
Happens with every flash installer apk i have found?

I am having an issue with flash still not working. Downloaded both apk files and ff still says that I need to install flash. Any help appreciated

You probably need to enable flash in settings. Anyway, you should use the scope browser. Works way better with flash. Ff can't play HD flash.

Before anything else, go into the "Security" section of your settings, and find the line that says "Unknown Sources" and make sure that box is checked. A warning will pop up that basically warns you that Google can't guarantee that apps you get outside of the Google play store are safe...kind of a no-brainer, but I digress...

Put the flash .apk file on your tablet, via computer or whatever way you choose, open a file manager app on your tablet (i.e. File Manager HD https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...s/details?id=com.rhmsoft.fm.hd&token=BouWolSK) , and click on the file. I tend to put things in my download folder so it's easy to track down. It will ask if you want to install, so click install and the rest is self explanatory.

As for Firefox, it is just not available for download on your Nexus 7. However, I can confirm it works just fine. In fact, my fiance used it while signing up for a college class yesterday. I recommend downloading it to a phone and snagging the .apk file. It's a workaround, but it gets the job done until they make it downloadable from the play store.

Hi. I followed the steps and all this worked fine, the only thing I cant see on my Nexus 7 is where the "pluggins" are. I need to enable this according to your post. Can you help?

Oh wait, soryy, I was thinking this was a different thread. Read the sticky on installing flash.

For Firefox or xscope? The instructions in the first post give clear instructions for both.

Wow the ops instructions were so convoluted. Get firefox beta, the latest flash.apk and thats all you need. You use firefox to go to flash sites.

I installed Flash as instructed.
Will please some one point me to a flash-rich site to test it, thanks very much!
