No OTA updates since 5.0.1

Have a stock N5 on EE (UK) that's 2 years old and running 4.4.4. About a year or so ago I got OTA notification of a 5.0 and 5.0.1 update but passed on both due to concerns over battery life. Decided to wait for the 5.1 update but it never came. Nor did any flavour of 6, it's just stuck offering 5.0.1

Do I have to go through the 5.0.1 update before I'll ever get any others, or should I have had more recent ones by now? I've also never seen anything related to any of these security updates that Google are supposed to be pushing out now, even for 4.4...

Is there anything else I can do other than manually installing an update myself?

Accept 5.0.1. You should then be offered a succession of others directly afterwards, until you are up to date. In doing that on a new Nexus 7 about a month ago, I think there were about seven updates, some mainly security ones I believe, starting from 5.0, before I eventually landed on 6.0.

OTAs are incremental updates. They take you from one version (build) to another. If you are still on 4.x, that's why you are not getting any updates (they have updates to 6.x from 5.x (various builds). I don't think they have an OTA to take you from 4.x to 6.x directly
