I've bought a non-oem car charger off Ebay for $9 free shipping, I plugged it in my phone while driving from work, and the phone battery cover began overheating, don't buy a non-oem car charger off E-bay, went to VW store and got one for $29.99

How do you know it was 'overheating'? My OEM wall charger gets this sucker pretty darn hot. Did the phone shut down or give a warning? Did you check the battery temp?

I picked up a 4 cables and a car adapter from Monoprice for less than I spent on lunch and I have no complaints...

Oh I have missed one point, the red indicator was not on, and I noticed it 20 minutes after, the back of the phone was extremely hot, did not shut down or gave any warnings though

If the red indicator wasn't on (assuming it wasn't green, instead), then the phone wasn't actually charging...

I just use the oem one i have for my BB Storm. Works great, no overheating.
