Just opened it up. It's very much a normal, new, retail unit. Shrink-wrapped twice actually (the retail box, then that shrink-wrapped to a piece of cardboard for shipping). I'm letting it acclimate to room temperature before I turn it on. Man, it feels awesome though!

keep it, you must know someone who would love it, we will have 3 when mine arrives (due tomorrow) I got one for my husband for Christmas, sold my Archos 70 and bought one for myself last month and ordered one of these for my daughter...

I ordered mine this morning about 10 AM, and by Midnight had a tracking number showing an estimated delivery date of Monday! Woo hoo!!! Looking forward to trying Honeycomb, hope the root with the pre-release version works as well for me as it appears to on the youtube videos.

is it true the original nookcolors were easier to work with installing roms and such? we have 2, I've never had any probs on the 1st one the 2nd one has given me fits so much when I try to do anything with ADB or even running Froyo on an SD card that I went back to 1.1 rooted...

Bumping this question. My daughter just bought a Nook Color at the store last week, so we're still under the 14 day return window, but I'd like to still have the ability to root it. So has anyone who has ordered from this eBay deal rooted theirs yet?

You should be able to root with no issues. The previous rumor that they were locking down the nook was only a rumor, also it did not make any economical sense to do so. I would return and order this nook before the deal is dead.

I did see recently that Best buy had the Nook for $250 plus you got to pick a free cover (which I would buy anyway) which could save you $30-$50 depending on the cover you picked.
Now the offer they have, gets you a free $30 external battery pack.

Same...I took back the Xoom I bought as I just did not feel like spending $800 right now in this economy. But for $200 I jumped on this and can't wait to get it tomorrow and root it. It seems like there is a ton of developer support for this device which is great!!!!

Looks like I barely made it in time then, I ordered about 30 minutes before it expired and got mine. I can't wait for $250 I was somewhat tempted but since I have been reading a lot of manga and comics lately the $50 price drop pushed me over the edge as this will be MUCH nicer than reading on my computer or phone.

Ordered mine two days ago and UPS says "out for delivery" from my local distribution center. A day earlier than expected!

Too bad it'll beat the class 6 microSD card by a couple of days. I plan on rooting this weekend.
