Not Receiving Messages after Switching from iOS

So I just purchased the galaxy s4 ( I love this phone! I recently had an iphone but id recommend this phone better) Anyway, its barely been even a week and Ive had just one person try to text me and it wouldnt go through. The person is an iphone user but I have been able to recieve messages from other iphone users so I dont think thats the problem. Please help. Thank you.

It depends on if any of those iPhone users or yourself used iMessage. Unfortunately this service doesn't just stop when your iPhone is deactivated. You have to use your iPhone to turn off iMessage or it will hold your number hostage, sometimes for several months. If that friend uses iMessage, they can delete your contact card and re-add you. Their phone should then text you as a regular contact instead of an iMessage contact.

I switched from an iPhone too. iMessage can be tricky to turn off. I removed the phone number from my apple account and that seemed to fix it.
