I am running Windows 7 64bit. The phone will charge when plugged in to usb, but it is not coming up as a USB device. Anyone else? Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing?

Is there an option somewhere (possibly by dragging down the notification window) to select "Disk Drive" instead of "charging"? That's how it is on my Hero, see if you can find that anywhere...

I cant get the computer to recognize my device in any mode... Im also running win 7 64 bit. I've tried the 64 bit drivers and the 32 bit drivers and neither one works.

Same problem here. Win 7 x64. No recognition of the USB storage when "mounted" or in "Mass Storage" mode.

so wait.. samsung/sprint didn't test this with one of the most popular OS in the world?

No biggie, take the sd card out and use the included adapter to put it straight into the computer.

Yes, biggie. I'd need to take off a case protector, then the back case (which I don't know about you, but scares me every time I snap it off), then pull out the sd card without breaking the connector or losing the card. Then doing everything in reverse. Sure, it's a workaround. But I wouldn't say "no biggie."

The sad part about issue like these is what booggerg said. This is a basic function. Did anyone think to test it?

I'm also using Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and mine recognizes it just fine. When I plug it into the computer I get 3 choices that pop up on the phone. "Just Charge", "Mass Storage", and "Tethered Mode". It shows up once I select Mass Storage

Calm down, the back case is made to be taken on and off. Be a man, it isnt that hard to take off.

The fact that windows 7 64bit is not reading the phone is a driver issue that has nothing to do with the phone and can be fixed with a quick download from samsung support website.

This is a problem and samsung need to know about it to fix it, but this problem is easily solved and easy to get around so it isn't a big problem. Therefore I stand by my no biggie claim.

No doubt, the fix is purely software so I'm not too concerned about it.. but this is a basic functionality of the phone. The fact that so many people are having the same issue tells me this is not some strange scenario that could have understandably be missed during testing. I'm more curious of the testing methodology used for this phone.

I have downloaded and installed the galaxy s drivers (64bit) but still no love. ?

I don't even get the option to choose charge/mass storage/usb drive when I plug in

Some people dont have an issue so it could have been missed in testing or as I said, it might be an issue that has nothing to with the phone. You should get in touch with sprint or samsung support and hear what they have to say. Let us know

My wifes did the same does urs say debugging and have a error symbol click the debugging or whatever it says and turn that off should be good now sorry doing from mem. Hope it helps

It doesn't matter. Since multiple ppl on this one forum are are having this issue, it suggests the issue is easy to replicate. I assume when samsung performs testing, they are utilizing PC configurations that cover the whole spectrum of whats out there in the real world. If it's not a samsung issue like you said, but rather a common OS configuration causes the phone not to mount, Samsung should still have made their software accomodate such OS setting thus preventing this from ever occuring.

Windows 7 installed the drivers it needed when I plugged my phone into the computer. But since I am a programmer my account is an administrator on the computer. Anybody that is having issues, is your account an administrator? Don't know if thats the issue since I don't have access to another computer to test that theory at the moment.

Im running windows 7 ult. 64 bit also. My epic connected with no issues my wife got the error symbol (at the notifications bar on top) and would not show up in my computer, but was fixed by turning off that descanning or debugging or whatever it was. Click the drop down at the top and look for it once its plugged into your computer.

I am admin on my machine. I don't get any options or icons on the phone when I plug it in. The light comes on and it is charging, but that's it. I don't show anything in device manager showing the phone, or a bad driver or anything.
