I think it depends on the video...some of them have the option and some don't...I'm not sure why its like that

That's part of it. But the app isn't showing the option for anything above 720p, regardless of the resolution of the actual video.

I just tried and was able to get 1080p from a YouTube video. Try viewing a video from a top company like "Canon" or "Samsung" and see
I actually just tried it on different videos and I have the 1080p option on all of them

Sorry the pic is flipped...I took the pic of my phone with my computer

Yeah I hope they make an update for the YouTube app immediately this is disappointing to have a 1440p phone and can't use it

Pretty sure older versions of youtube it works, and a few months back they pulled HD video out of the app in an update. Anyone that has an older version of the app can still play it, new versions cannot. Some of these Note 4's might have a version of youtube that was before the update, and if some of you have auto update apps on, it might be updating it and losing the feature. A way to test it would be either uninstall updates on youtube and turn off auto app updates in google play and try that, or if someone who has a working version, can upload the apk here for others to sideload and test.

I really do not understand people who chase the maximum resolution of the screen, and then wonder why theirs "super-clear" and "super-slim" device loses all battery power for half a day. Or someone wants to say that he sees the pixels at 300dpi (as an example of 4.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 * 720) on your phone? Really, I believe that it is necessary to stop this "competition resolution screens", and come at last to the same format, no more than FullHD (for devices up to 7 inches).

My friend actually did it for me. We had a rough time figuring it out why 720 was the top resolution. He asked if I could leave it with him. Several hours later he came by and wala 1080 and 1440 enabled. Said he had to download and install an apk (whatever that is) file.

Please ask your friend for that file or the steps he used. It would be greatly appreciated.

An apk is just the extention of the application file... like .xlsx for excel or .doc for word. The youtube app is really an apk in and of itself... so saying you need to download an apk is little on the vague side.
