Note 4 - Samsung $200 trade in promotion

Re: Note 4 samsung $200 trade in promotion

This is the problem I have...I think done of the reps may be thinking that it is similar to other trade in promos that require contract. I wish there was a definitive answer now, but there isn't anything in the terms that say the phone has to be on contract. I WILL get that gift card one way or another. But what about at the carrier? Do they require you to buy on contract? Probably not. Because they are just taking whatever your phone is worth to them while Samsung sends the rest.

This is how I'm going to do it. I'll do it online though as I want to activate it. They should send me a prepaid envelope to mail my Note 2 in as the trade in, right? Then Samsung does the rest.

Re: Note 4 samsung $200 trade in promotion

This has to be the worst executed promotion I've ever seen, btw

Re: Note 4 samsung $200 trade in promotion

Any updates on if one can trade in the phone at any retailer for example Amazon, having preordered the phone directly from Sprint?

Best Buy should be ashamed

Seriously (in regards to this $200 promotion thing).

They have been running the promotion for over a week now and no one in North America can give a clear and definitive answer when it comes to the specifics of this promotion (contract vs buying device outright; which smartphones are acceptable for the trade in; and when you can use the $200 gift card [during purchase or only after on something other than the N4]).

The Samsung rep at my local Best Buy instructed me to buy a $20 go phone in the store and then use that as the trade in on release day (the 17th) to get the $200 gift card, but another Best Buy employee said only certain smartphones will be accepted (ie no go phones?). Basically, no one has a clue and we are approximately two weeks out.

The lack of details from Best Buy (and Samsung) is ridiculous.

Just venting...

Okay well best buy sucks you're better off going through Amazon and doing it that way or go directly through the carrier...what I'm doing is trading in my LG g2 and my galaxy s4 and getting additional 70 off when applying for an Amazon credit card...I'll only pay 406 off contract...after it being it 840 after taxes... Not too shabby

Re: Best Buy should be ashamed

This is why I never purchase phones from Best Buy. I always order from the carrier.

How does one get the promotion via Amazon? When I try to pre order, it just says $799.99

Re: Best Buy should be ashamed

As soon as AT&T starts accepting PayPal or more than one method of payment I gladly will go there....

So let me get this straight, you're saying Best Buy should be ASHAMED because they're not being specific if you can swindle them out of $180? Wow, Pot meet kettle.....

Re: Note 4 samsung $200 trade in promotion

I pre-ordered from Best Buy on day 1 (before they came up with their own plan separate from Samsung). After I pre-ordered in the store, I mailed in my wife's old S3 for $45 credit (so I can get the difference from Samsung). THEN Best Buy decided to do the separate gift card deal, which doesn't help me because I'm planning on getting the Note 4 on the Edge Plan. I was able to contact Best Buy and they are shipping my wife's phone back to me. I plan on canceling the pre-order through Best Buy and dealing directly with Verizon. I'd rather have the $200 to use towards my phone bill vs a Best Buy gift card (I still have some BB gift cards I still need to use and plan on using those towards a Samsung Case and/or Zagg TP glass screen protector). Also, the whole pre-ordering ordeal at Best Buy was a pain.

Swindle? It is their promotion and because of capitalism, we can go ANYWHERE to purchase the device, but I am planning to go through best buy just to avoid complications w submitting receipts online, waiting for a check (hopefully), etc.

Since best buy has been so ambiguous about this promotion, I'd rather take the sure thing and go via AT&T and do the online thing.

I cancelled my best buy pre-order today because we still can't get a definitive answer on how it works.

Sorry

Re: Note 4 samsung $200 trade in promotion

Guys i'm afraid I may have some bad news. So I called our support team, the lady looked into it and there's an email I believe where it says you must activate the phone with a service agreement in order to take advantage of the $200 trade in promo. From the previous 100 trade in promotions we've had, I know how this will play out. After you upgrade your phone in our activation portal, the sales consultant will then proceed to trade in your phone, it will then prompt to enter in the phone number that was just activated so the system can verify if it was in fact activated, then it will let the sales consultant continue with the $200 gift card. There is NO WAY to over ride this and force the system to give the $200 gift card for trade in if you didn't upgrade. This really sucks because I too pre-ordered and was going to buy the phone OFF-CONTRACT from my store, now I can't even get the phone from Best Buy and do Samsung's trade in because Samsung decided to change the rules out of nowhere suddenly. I wouldn't doubt it if things change again sometime in the next 2 weeks, (3 weeks for those of us who are on Verizon as we always get things late)

I'll report back if anything changes. Now we need to figure out if we can do this through Amazon.

So I can't buy directly from Verizon, trade in my Note 2, and get the rest of the rebate from Samsung?

I figured as much. It's all good it's a good thing I have good credit :) I may just buy an old phone anyway in case this changes if nothing else I'll just get the trade in value off my purchase.

Re: Note 4 samsung $200 trade in promotion

This promotion is garbage if you ask me, or the people at BestBuy are morons.

First you have kiosk dude form samsung saying ANY working smart phone. Then I talk to someone at their mobile counter and I get told this:

1) Phone has to have a trade in value, any value (samsungs ad says at least 10 bux).
2) The new Note 4 offer is only valid on a 2 YEAR contract. So if you wanted to do ATT Next plan, then forget it.
3) The new Note 4 offer is for a NEW number on the device, unless your existing phone qualifies for an upgrade.

Earlier today I tried to call two BestBuys to get clarification, and I never got to a real person, so I called their 1800 number and got someone on the phone who had no idea what I was talking about, until I told her. Then she told me, based on what she has read, it's for any working smartphone. Debacle...all over the place.

So, based on all of this, I'm just going to roll into ATT and get the phone the day it comes out.

Re: Note 4 samsung $200 trade in promotion

The whole best buy thing is a damn mess.
The whole offed hosted by Samsung is a fooked up mess. Best Buy are dealing with the same shoot from the hip offer. Not their fault.

I have a line that is due an upgrade and has data already. I wonder if BB can activate the N4 on that line and then I put my sim in it and use it instead?

Darn, no att next? I was planning to sign up tomorrow to on att next to take advantage of $100 bill credit att is offering and expiring tomorrow.
