Note 5 Battery life thread

I've noticed that if you leave your phone on wifi, the battery drains faster than if Wifi is off and you are running LTE
Anyone else notice this?

In general yes but it is exacerbated with the cell standby bug.

Got the Note 5 on Friday afternoon. Charged it over night with a slow charger. I haven't used it a lot, but I have picked it up and changed settings and tried things as I read about them in the forum. Waiting to charge it again when it gets below 10%. May have to work it tonight before bed to get down that low.

I have not turned it off, just let it sit on the night stand at night.

Doing pretty good today. That standby time is amazing!! 30 hours.

Is there an article that talks about the difference between quick charge and slow charge? Does it work better (slow charge)? I've never heard of this but if slow charge is better, then I'll use quick charge only for emergency.

WTF!!!! what is your screen time? Just wow. I might get 2 days on a weekend if I dont use it much, but this is crazy.

I do not know if the slow charge is better or not. It was just the charger I have at my night stand that I used to charge my S5 Active with before. Just stating the facts of how it was charged. I am not a big talker so that only included a few short phone calls and a just a few minutes of browser usage while the wife was shopping Saturday.

This is what I have started doing... Only fast charge for emergencies...i say this because I noticed my battery getting weaker on my S6 and I have always used quick charge with it when I charge, even for non emergencies

Quick charge will heat your battery up shortening it's life more than a slow charge will.

Design a phone with a small battery, offer quick charge as the solution, which kills the battery faster, which isn't user replaceable, so it may be better to buy a new phone rather than replacing the battery, Samsung sales increase.

Today was the first day that I did not "excessively" fiddle with my Note 5 (setting it up and what not), so it was a good day to assess battery life compared to my Note 4. At the end of the work day (~9.5 hours) my battery life was 62% with typical use. Before the Lollipop update on my Note 4, this would be my typical battery drain. After the Lollipop update, my Note 4 was consistently at about 30% at the end of the work day. So, the Note 5 is on par (maybe slightly better) than the Note 4 pre-lollipop.

I have a 20 minute commute home, and I have a fast charger in my car. By the time I got home, my battery life was at 86% (from 62%), so it charges really quickly -- faster than my Note 4's quick charge capability. So, overall, very happy with the battery life on this phone.

Ahhh ok
I wish it was the other way around

I know I have a lot of different sync settings set up to only work while on wifi, so my data doesn't get eaten up. If you do the same you will have more wake locks on wifi.... draining your battery a little more

OK, today is 7 full days on the Note 5. Until today battery life is just enough to keep me worried. I started out like many, I just want to make it through my normal day. My normal day does not include checking it every 3 minutes for bttery life. Its not full of SOT, RSVP or ESPN's. Just give me a full work day. I have the spare chargers for when I go beyond the norm.
I am now 11 hours into my day, and 9 hours off the charger. I'm at 58%. I'm good. NO more checking every 5 minutes, and no more reading about battery life on someone's old Note 2. I know all I need to know.

Peace
PS

My first full day of work with this phone and I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. Coming form a Droid MAXX with a battery that goes on forever I'm happy to say that after a day of office wifi, constant Gmail both incoming and outgoing, all day G-chat, phone calls, constant bluetooth and syncing with Fitbit, lots of Whatsapp messaging, lots of Facebook checking (it's my birthday today so lots of messages) and some picture taking, I came home with about 50%and that's with the brightness set at 50%. I still plan to get a wireless charger for work but I no longer have worries about this phone lasting me a day of work. Very happy!
