Note 5 Battery life thread

I Think LTE is less drain than Wi-Fi and first level of power save I keep always on, no problems. Battery is better than I thought after I removed tons of apps and disable others, some needed two or more attempts.

Not true see my battery life on post above that was all on my WiFi at home, if i am on 4G LTE i probably get about 6 to 7 hrs on SOT.

I downloaded this to see if it'll help. No idea how it works so I just did disable bloatware lol. Fingers crossed!

I don't think the software makes much difference against manual work available, I removed it and achieved best outcome.

You may lose quite a bit of functionality if you chose the "disable bloat ware" option.
Also, if memory serves, don't go into ultra power saving mode after doing that. I remember reading something about that'll brick the phone.

From my AT&T Platinum Gold Note 5

Omg is that true?!

I found this online: "Note: DO NOT USE ULTRA POWER SAVING MODE IF YOU HAVE COM.SEC.ANDROID.EMERGENCYLAUNCHER DISABLED, It will freeze your phone."

Thanks!

Thanks for that. I tried ultra power saving just now, and it works. Thank god. That would've been a NIGHTMARE!

I'm sorry to say that this made ZERO difference in my battery life

I greenified GSam for a couple days to test out battery without it since some people in this thread told me GSam might actually harm the battery life.

I don't know. Still didn't seem very optimal. Shouldn't be losing multiple percent during just a few minutes of use.

I should just stop obsessing anyway. I'm around chargers no matter where I go. I just want to get optimal performance since this phone will probably have to last me a while. Doubt I'll ever be able to get a "2 year upgrade price" phone ever again.

I'm with you, Matrix. Just relax and use the phone! Like you said, I'm around all kinds of chargers all day. In my car. At work and at home. While I agree it's sometimes necessary and even fun to tweak things, I think we lose track of what we have. A $700 or so computer that for the most part runs pretty efficiently. I love the Note 5, and when it needs to be recharged, there are plenty of options.

I see what you guys are saying, and I agree. You become so obsessed that you no longer just enjoy the phone. I'm starting to get like that, and I need to stop lol

I charge mine all throughout day but the night-time drain annoys me too. It used to be not so bad but now it's 10-15% over 7 hours.

It's that dang cell standby drain

Battery life on my Note 5 SM-N920i was atrocious, no thanks to android OS/ Android system keeping phone constantly awake with ZERO deep sleep. I was constantly charging the phone & overnight battery would drop 30% on the average!! I actually got fed up with the battery drain that I purchased a Nexus 6P to get battery life but I immediately realized after using the 6P for a few hours that the Note 5 met my needs better ;).
I finally broke down and rooted my Note 5 and flashed a different kernel (arter97 kernel), let me just say that the difference in the battery now is like night & day prior to me rooting... I only experienced a 5% battery drop overnight and phone is now able to go into deep sleep mode

Which variant do you have?

Edit: Nevermind
