Note 5 Battery life thread

Hey guys i just wanna ask how long your phone usually last if you put it on ultra saving mode? I saw the other phones got like 40 hours and it's not even 80% while mine only got like 23h30m or sometimes 27h and the battery is 100%, what should i do? i just brought it 1 month ago

There are many factors that influence battery life. Among them are screen brightness level, screen on time, cell and WiFi signal strength, apps in use, and background processes, etc. So, I would not worry about the differences you are seeing between what others get and your experience.

I know what's making my Note 5 battery life horrible, it's a combination of Samsung's poorly designed antenna and AT&T's ridiculous LTE Band 30. My battery itself is probably just fine, but between the poorly made antenna and my phone sitting on band 30 with a lousy - 115 db signal it dies with minimal use in 9 hours, not screen on time, just being on 9 hours. The main battery killer is weak signal. I wish there was a way to kill this band 30. I used my same Sim card in my old Nexus 6, larger screen older battery and average 19 hours on with 4 hours screen on time and still at 29 % at night.

i am in the same boat as you. my note 5's (920G) battery life took a turn for the worst after the december security update. the main culprit is the android system i mean these days i have to charge my phone 2-3 times a day just so that it can last till 11-12 pm. .

This exactly! I want to roll back to last Oct and stay there in terms of Android OS update.

I'm running a custom ROM on my T-Mobile Note 5 that is on the November 1 security update. I have owned this Note 5 a year in January and I have always complained about the battery life on this thing. At most I could barely get an hour screen time and it was never a phone I could count on being as my main phone.

A few weeks back, I installed this custom ROM on my phone with the November update and it seems to have finally made my phone half way usable. I've had to into recovery a few times in these two weeks to delete the cache because a few times, the battery would just start draining again with all apps closed. I was finally able to 4.5 hrs screen time, something I was never ever able to get in this year of using this phone.

This ROM had all the bloat removed and none of that other junk that the devs on the XDA forums love to throw into these ROMs.

You would have to root the phone of course to install a custom ROM and for me, that has been the only way over this past year to make this phone useable. I think I am somewhat finally happy.

Rooting is not an option for Verizon users

Can any one of you tell me how much the battery should discharge during the Night, approximately 7-8 hours when I'm sleeping?
