No way to turn it off ... :-\

Pulling down the notification shade gives me settings only.

Settings is limited to wifi, bt, airplace mode, mobile networks, location, sound and brightness.

Please don't tell me I have to factory wipe this thing.

On your home screen in the upper right corner you should see a "more" button, tap that and you should get an option to turn it off.

Yeah and it erases your theme
The Note 4 power saving mode had more user input on what it turned off

Maybe a couple of tips here :-
What to Do When Your Android Phone or Tablet Won’t Turn On
Extract :-
Like other operating systems, Android can sometimes hard-freeze and refuse to respond. If Android is completely frozen, your device may be powered on and running — but the screen won’t turn on because the operating system is frozen and not responding to button presses.

You’ll need to perform a “hard reset,” also known as a “power cycle,” to fix these types of freezes. This cuts the power to your phone or tablet entirely, forcing it to shut down and boot back up.

On a phone or tablet with a removable battery, you can remove the battery, wait about ten seconds, and then plug the battery back in and boot it up.

On a phone or tablet without a removable battery — that includes most modern Android devices — you’ll need to long-press the Power button. Press your device’s Power button and hold it down. You should only have to hold the Power button down for ten seconds, but you may have to hold it down for thirty seconds or longer. This will cut the power to your phone or tablet and force it to boot back up, fixing any hard freezes.

The only thing that worked was wiping the device. I cleared the cache before factory reset (by holding down vol up, power and home button on boot) but no luck. I bet we see this happening to some more folks soon. Skipping Nova this time around and will put up with tw and see if it happens again.

Hey Dude did you find a fix? my Samsung S7 is stuck in ultra power saving mode, however I can't seem to reset it. Any tips?

I understand your feeling. I faced it twice.. The idea is to trigger the Launcher Picker again by installing/removing current launcher. So you should do adb install/remove the launcher (not the system one) and the system will ask for picking another one. Here is my note. Hope it helps

Just fixed this on my note 5 with marshmallow, had to download a random launcher apk (i went with nova launcher) through the browser. Then just install, will prompt to allow 3rd party apps(initially i left the box checked that refers to allowing it once or always, noting happened after that install. Tried again but unchecked the box and had better luck) after the install i hit open, then the screen went dark other than the top bar, i waited for the display to shut off then when i hit the power button and swiped it asked me to choose a launcher. I chose the default, NOT GOOGLE NOW OR THE ONE I JUST INSTALLED. This brought me to the normal upsm home screen where i could simply exit normally

I have note4

The useless launchers I got are: ThouchWiz Easy Home, ThouchWiz home.

Selected ThouchWiz home, didn't see any changes.

Please help, what should I do next.

I can't seem to find a way to uninstall Google too when I drag it to info.

I came across a simple solution to this. On your home screen you should see the "Google" icon. Drag it to the info box on the top of the screen. There you will see the option to force it to stop. Select that. Then select disable which will bring it to the original factory settings. Then force that to stop. You will now have the option to select a different shell. Do not select Google Now. After that in the upper right corner you will be able to turn off ultra power savings.

After dragging it to the info box, disable was the only clickable option.
Even after clicking it, the disable option remained disabled.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, downloading a 3rd party launcher apk allowed me to switch back to the samsung one and got me out of ultra power saving mode.
Switched back to google launcher and will never be using that feature again.

How did you download "apk" or any 3rd party launcher? Being stuck in ultra power saving mode has disabled using any apps except "internet." Google Chrome wont open and Good Play Store wont open either. HELPPPPPPPP
