Note 5 vs Note 4 discussion

If they had been released at the same time, would you get a Note 4 or Note 5?

Either you like living on the edge, or have Spidey hands :)
I don't like making my phone bigger. And a case always seems to make it harder to get out of my pocket. For some reason my hands grip the glass well. The aluminum on the HTC one series and iPhone though not so much. Maybe it is spidey hands..

I played around with the Note 5 at Best Buy today after telling the pushy sales associates to leave me alone and I must say, it is a really nice phone. I like the look of it and it is super fast. My favorite thing about the phone was the ability to write a note on the screen when the screen is off. That is very useful and it should have been on previous iterations of the phone. The Note 4 was also there. I played around with that one and it didn't seem as fast as the Note 5 and I couldn't write on the screen with the device off.

If I had to choose one, I'd get the Note 5. I can live without the expandable storage because I have 150GB of storage space on Google Drive. I am probably going to trade in my S6 active for the Note 5 because I start graduate school in a week and I won't need a weather resistant phone anymore.

Should i upgrade to Note 5?

I like the removable battery and microSD support, and all the accessories i can get for my Note 4

But i hate the finger scanner i would love to have one touch scanner..

Also i started a website for product reviews.. And stay on the line of technology is helpful..

Should i sell my note 4 and get a note 5?

Re: Should i upgrade to Note 5?

The note 4 is being said by a lot of people right now to be the best note made, including the note5.

You just have to decide if you like or can live with the changes. If i still had my note4 (my daughter has it) then i probably wouldn't want to upgrade until some time has gone by. However, since i don't, i want the 5. While i dont like everything about the 5, and i believe Samsung took several important features away, i have thought a lot about it and i feel i will still love the note5. I wouldn't buy another 4 because I've been there done that. I want the shiny new one lol. The battery is shaping up to be as good as the 4, and that's my primary concern (yes i want the new processor and fingerprint scanner to)

Its really up to you, there will be plenty of people who won't even try the five, and that's ok. It doesn't mean the 5 is second rate, it's just a new direction that samsung took with the note line that it may or may not should of.

Im willing to try it, because the battery was my biggest concern and so far reviews are favorable.

Should i upgrade to Note 5?

The 5 is being said to out class the 4 in battery performance, obviously everything else about the 5 is better the the 4, so that leaves internal memory, can you, live with 32-64. If the answer is yes then it makes sense to go with the 5.

You have to decide whether the incremental improvements in the Note 5 is going to be worth trading the removable battery and SD card slot.

If you don't swap batteries often, or at all, and you either have a small SD card or don't use one, then the Note 5 is a solid upgrade. If you do use those 2 frequently, then I'd say it's probably better to keep the 4.

If you do product reviews, I think you can try reviewing other Samsung products to get their attention, so they *might* send you review units in the future.

Get the note 4 instead of the Note 5

Went from the note 2 to the note 4. I will not be getting the note 5 because for all of the new things, without a bigger or removable battery and no sd card slot, its a giand step backwards from my note 4 which is Still a beast of a phone. Do the smart thing. Save some bucks and get the 4 or you'll end up like an iphone owner and be forced to carry a charger with you ALWAYS.

Re: Should i upgrade to Note 5?

Hmm to be honest i have dozens of aftermarket batteries nornal size or extended ones..i still use the original battery with a Qi Receiver so battery i think is not an issue..but microSD yes..i have all my photos there i dont want to fill up the internal memory

In that case, unless you're willing to use an OTG drive or cloud storage solutions like Dropbox and Google Drive, the Note 4 might be the better pick.

Unless Incipio releases their offGRID case for the Note 5 that has an SD card slot.

Re: Get the note 4 instead of the Note 5

To each his own :-).

I've been using iPhone 6Plus exclusively for work (and I'm a field engineer so the phone gets used heavily for email, conferences, talk time while in/out airports). The 6 Plus battery has been adequate for my needs and if anything, a end of day wall-huggin'at the hotel works fine.

Storage also haven't been an issue either. Most if not all are content are cloud driven.
For me, what matters most for my mobile productivity is decent battery life and a device that has the horsepower to meet my needs.

I've played around with both Note4/5 at Bestbuy and 5 is noticeably faster than 4....there's no denying that. Add in good battery life (as reported by some websites already), probably the BEST S-Pen integration and a speedy OS+hardware, the Note5 fits my bill better as removable battery/storage are a minor factor for me.

You can try the Note 5 for a bit in a store to see how it's like.

Samsung should just continue to produce and sell the Note 4 for a while and see if it continues to sell. That way customers can choose based on their priorities.

what are the prices for note 5 in europe? i can sell the note 4 for 450 EUR .. if i can find a note 5 for 600EUR it would be awesome

Note 5 is way better then the 4 by far just having the touch over the piece of crap swipe finger print sensor is alone a reason to upgrade. More ram better processor and camera. Even battery life is better. The curved back feels great too. It's definitely worth it.

I have been a Samsung fan for years but I am afraid that the Note 5 might be their HTC Evo moment where follow up devices fail to sell well. Time will tell but it isn't a compelling device to me. What might happen is users will look at other phones now that their latest didn't do it for them and the S-pen is the only thing missing on other devices.

Glad others like it but there are cheaper alternatives now.

Last I checked when Samsung released the Original Note, Note 2, Note 3, Note 4 and now the 5 there were cheaper alternative devices on the market. Additionally, none of the devices had s-pens. Are you saying consumers didn't look at Samsung alternatives AND buy them. You don't ever recall people saying, "I will never buy a Note it's too big?" You think that crowd of people didn't purchase a different brand?

There has always been complaints when Samsung released it Note's. The screen's too big, why do you need a stylus, too plasticky for a premium device yada yada yada.........Now it's the Note 5's turn to get bashed a bit just like the other Note's before it.

Amazingly, through all of the negativity, Samsung, still manages to sell more devices than all the other android OEM's combined.
