Yep, happend this morning. Phone still works but now my screen is all taped up to prevent fingers from getting glass cuts.

I have no insurance and 1st time to ever break a phone. My luck.

I called samsung and they can replace the screen for $293 if I send it in. Obviously this is cheaper than having to buy another one but I want to hear people's experience on this forum with Samsung repairs. Is this a good option and would the phone be back as it was new. Does samsung do quality screen replacements? Would appreciate sharing your experience with me. Thanks!

I would fix it and get a case. Anything glass will break.

Curious if you had a case and/or screen protector? Posts I've read IIRC have been mostly positive about Samsung repair, not sure on the timeline though.

No case would have protected this fall. I'll send pictures when I get home. I am going to send it in to Samsung. Don't have any other choice.

Did your case have a nice lip on it? Mine is a very minimal case but has a nicely raised lip to protect the screen from making contact with the ground in the event of faceplants.

I have my note out for screen repair now. I have great 3rd party insurance. Just waiting for the job to get done. I'll follow up as soon as I can.

I had a solid case on. Again face done on concrete. These type of surfaces are not smooth, I have a raised lip on my case. Screen got toasted.

Did you by chance buy it through Samsung and get the 2 months of free Samsung Care? If not, don't feel too bad about the $293. With Asurion through Verizon, I believe the deductible for the Note 8 is $250 or $300.

FWIW, $293 sounds cheap - according to Verizon, their insurance has a $395 deductible to replace the phone. I had a screen shatter on a s7e and it cost me $200 to replace it with the insurance. Depending on where you live, if there's an authorized repair center near you (there isn't for me), it can be cheaper to fix the screen with their insurance.

From what I've read, the Note 8 isn't an easy phone to repair - I'd have Samsung do it!

This happened with my Note 4, sound issue after around 2 months, sent it off,came back with all stickers on it, marks gone so I assume new phone, took around 7 -10 days.
