Note 8 fell face down. Screen shattered.

My daughter has an S7, she dropped and cracked the screen. Took it to the Sprint store and they have Samsung rep there, claimed since it was still within the year warranty they would fix it for 200. Took an hour.

Me I have Squaretrade, 99 dollar deductible.
I think that's why it is going to cost $294. I believe Samsung too said labor is covered under warranty but replacing screen because I dropped it is not since I don't have insurance. I'm hoping they will send me a new one. Crossing fingers. Will come back and update this thread when I get the phone back :)

If they do replace it, most probably it'll be one of their refurbished ones. Not that there's anything wrong with them. 😉

Yep, happend this morning. Phone still works but now my screen is all taped up to prevent fingers from getting glass cuts.

I have no insurance and 1st time to ever break a phone. My luck.

I called samsung and they can replace the screen for $293 if I send it in. Obviously this is cheaper than having to buy another one but I want to hear people's experience on this forum with Samsung repairs. Is this a good option and would the phone be back as it was new. Does samsung do quality screen replacements? Would appreciate sharing your experience with me. Thanks!

Did you have a case on it?

With a phone as expensive, fragile and vulnerable to drop damage as the Note 8 - a good insurance policy or a folio type case that also covers the front too is a must. I've never ever used a case that covers the front as it's too restrictive for me personally so third party insurance is a priority for me.
Last phone I broke was my S7 edge, it slid off my passenger car seat onto a rubber foot matt and the screen cracked from bottom to top. I was gutted but it was sent to Samsung themselves for repair and came back with a lovely new screen but the back wasn't replaced properly and I could run my fingernail down inside the seam so I was very dubious to whether it was still water resistant. Can't speak for everyone but the only 2 times I've dealt with Samsung here in the UK, the first phone was sent back to me twice saying there was no problem with it despite constantly freezing up and the S7 edge repair was my 2nd. I so wish they were even half as good as Apple for customer service.

Uneven concrete? Sounds like a trip hazard... Maybe you tripped and fell and shattered your phone in the process. Call one of those ambulance chasing lawyers.... Could have a solid case on your hands. Ha

Actually I have dropped a phone before where it was "The Drop of A Lifetime." It fell face down, on concrete but either the concrete was uneven or a small rock or something JUST HAPPENED TO BE RIGHT THERE. The screen had a miniscule crack right where it landed unevenly. It can happen.

I used to have this habit of reading my iPad at night on my couch, as I was nodding off. I would be awoken as it would clatter to the floor, short drop, less than 2 feet, happened multiple times without incident, BUT then there was that ONE time. I woke up at the crash and I JUST knew, and sure enough as I picked it up, shattered screen. Needless to say I no longer read from the iPad (a new one) as I'm nodding off! lol

Good luck with Samsung and your screen repair!

You might be able to still add insurance on it after the fact and get it fixed. I did that with my old s7 with att.

I have that issue with the TV remote.
However, if I ever did that with my Note8, it would probably be a the last time I did that. My habits would change pretty quick.

Haha thats me with my Note 4, noooooo way with the Note 8!

You are handling it quite well. I feel very bad that your phone broke. If does happen. My S4 speed 2 feet on concrete and shattered despite having a case, too. I hope you get your phone back quickly and that is just like new.

Yeah the problem with the edge is that the lip won't protect if the ground is uneven. At least if the lip was all the way around, the ground would have had to have been more uneven. That sucks, man - so sorry. That picture made me sad. One thing, though - could you have added Samsung care to it? I thought you have 1 yr to add it, or am I thinking of something else. Anyway, I think you did the right thing by going to Samsung to repair. Screw that - I'm not going to go to a discount fixer upper for a phone that came out less than a month ago. Good luck, man.
