Note 9 SD card sideloads /firmware how to.

Ok, im pretty green when it comes to phones. Never really did anythingvwith them before beside talk and text, but ive started becoming more into them. So im sorry if i sound like a *****...
First thing, i do not own o computer. Never needed one to be honest.
Ok now the fun, i have a N9600 unlocked dual sim. I use it on att network.
My last security update was july 2018 and im still running abdroid 8.1 with sansung experience 9.5
I've tried dealing with Samsung, to no avail, I've called att, they said try best buy. Best buy wont touch it since it's a international unlocked phone.
So (finally I know) how in the world do i get this stupid thing to update. The software update in the menu just says software's up to date.

Bottom Line, my note is stuck on January 1 2019 OS and will not update either OTA or via smart switch.
I know nothing about Odin, sd card update etc. But used to unlock my phones years ago, so I'll figure it out.
How can I get this thing to update to a or any updated OS since the Jan 1 2019?

Hi Welcome!
Go to this website and download the firmware
Also download Odin 3.13.1 there .https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note-9-us/firmware/SM-N960U/TMB/
After you download the firmware extract the zip with 7z . Put those 4 files in corresponding slots in Odin

CSC can use home CSC to save data otherwise regular CSC factory Reset

I read something earlier about CSC Home vs CSC reset per above. Definitely want to avoid a reset and losing data/files/settings. CSC home will avoid that?

Have you tried to reset the SPen in SPen settings? You know how to flash the firmware through Odin ?

Hey, all. I was in this thread earlier, and now I'm back. So, I've got an AT&T Note 9 that won't update...again. Oddly, this is the second device that's doing this, so there's obviously something wrong with them. I got AT&T to send me a new one, and this one's screwing up as well.
So, I reviewed a little of this thread, and went to the sammobile site to grab the update files, but it looks like 8.1 is the last version that they have, which my device is already far behind on. Can anyone steer me in the right direction? Also, is it possible to flash the phone via. Odin (which seems to be the preferred method), without wiping all the data? Thanks!! You all rock! (And are far better than AT&T and Samsung at helping people...)

Hey, thanks for this. When I click the link for the file in post 38. it says that the file doesn't exist.
Also, when I'm finally ready to flash, are the updates cumulative, or do I need to install all the updates before whatever one I install? I want to make sure that I get the camera improvements and such, too. (Tired of only getting fuzzy pictures of my toddler.)

Can see if @Galactic Zoo still has it , otherwise you can use my link above his .once you do this you should be in track to get normal updates as they come .

Hey, all. I know that this thread is really old, but I'm having some huge issues with my Note 9. Every time I try to flash the firmware (found in the reddit post here https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyNote9/comments/evbpy6/n960u_android_10_download/ ), it fails. I've tried multiple times. I've used CSC and HOME_CSC, I've used different versions of Odin, I've tried reinstalling the drivers, I'm using the USB cable that came with my phone...I don't know what to try next, and I'm really scared that I screwed up my extremely expensive smart phone that I'm still paying off.
The first time that I tried it, it went into a mode that says "An error occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC Software."
That option doesn't exist. If I reboot the phone in Download mode, it goes to this screen, and Odin sees it and assigns a COM port to it. However, every time it fails. I'm not even sure where to look for a log or anything to try to figure out what happened. Can anyone help me with this?? Thank you!!

First of all, THANK YOU THANK YOU for getting back to me. I can't tell you the model number because I can't get into the OS. I've been trying to find it online.
I've used Odin 3.13.1 3B Patched, 3.13.1, and 3.14.1. All of them fail.
