Notifications & Ringtone Volume Low?

I put in notification sounds that I had stored from my BB Storm2. A world of difference. It may be that the sounds were recorded at a low level. What I am still facing though is that when a notification goes off, it sounds like it is stuttering for lack of a better term

also using Volume + and Funny Sound Effects Ringtones by Sancron Sound Effects & Ringtones it is plenty loud. Both are the free versions.

Free version of volume+ fixed my problems, I was afraid I'd have to trade in the phone for a rezound! Putting volume+ on +3 made the phone so loud that I had to turn the volume rocker down a few notches.

Looks like this worked for me too!

Thanks!!!

My volume seems fine to me, but I'm hearing a very audible pop after every notification. My phone is perfect other than this, and I'd hate to have to exchange it over something stupid.

You can get the full version of Volume+ HERE for free, from the authors site. Set Volume at +8 with Treble Boost, you will be much happier with the GN speaker. :)

I didn't feel the speaker sound was weak before reading this thread. Thought that I would try this anyway. Installed Volume+ and set it to 8+. Interestingly, my speaker sound sounds exactly the same between "0" and "8+". Maybe my speaker sound was ok from the beginning? Is there anything we should do in the Volume+ to make the adjustment right?

For those who have NOT changed their ringtones and think the volume is too weak, please try to change your ringtone. The default ringtone is too soft, and can be missed in a loud environment. I agree with that part. But, after changing my ringtone, I have been feeling that the volume of my GN is just right.

Jorgasm209 - Thanks for the link to the great app!!!

I know this thread is for Ringtone Volume, but has anyone found a fix for the weak sauce vibrate on the phone?

Put your ear up to the speaker. It's the sound of the speaker turning off. There will be a buzz then a slight pop. Same on mine. It's a bug/hardware issues but not a individual phone defect.

The issue here isn't only low ring tones or notification tones but the speaker's performance overall :

Listening to podcasts, voice calls on speaker phone Netflix, YouTube etc...

Just compare your previous phone, play the same YouTube video or mp3.

I brought in an Epic Touch which has only a decent speaker and the GNexus was much lower.

For those that don't use their without headphones to listen to podcasts or Netflix, YouTube, i can see how this is no big deal and seems like all others that don't think a speaker matters also leave their phones on vibrate but anyone that relies on their phone's speaker for calls and multimedia apps, it's so low that it's a deal breaker (not like has be as loud as the original Droid but it's so low ...) .

Speaker and camera i can't deal with for thousands in monthly fees and the up front purchase price, stuck for two years with those two items.

Back to waiting game or a Rezound and hoping CyanogenMod comes along for the Rezound (gotta ditch original Droid).

Wish so badly i could activate the Epic Touch on Verizon.

Thanks a million for the razr links.....even though I am techno challenged i figured it out via dropbox and astro.....the one thing i missed most about the razr was the tones!!...now my galaxy is the best phone evah!! Anyway, thanks again,

I am using the paid version of volume+ with no improvement. I have tried settings that have worked for others with no help. The only ringtones that are loud enough for me to hear in my car with the radio on a medium lever are annoying screaching ringtones.

I don't understand why volume+ works for some and not others.

Volume+ must be enabled under Settings, Audio

I don't understand why volume+ works for some and not others.

once you set the settings in the Volume + app, then go to Settings, Audio, then you must enable Volume + or else the app isn't used (even if in the app you have chosen its settings, I read this and discovered it during testing at the VZW store).

Only thing is while it did make a difference,it only seemed to distort the speaker which was louder but thin and weak - just louder and seemed that if kept pushed with the distortion the speak may not hold up (plus it sounded kinda bad, distorted - not ideal for podcasts and still not that loud).

So try to enable Volume + in the app, then go to the phone's settings, audio - and also enable Volume + within GNex' main sound settings.

That setting changes the equalizer within Google Music. Im not sure it does anything else. I use Volume+ with great success and have never toggled that setting prior to reading your post.

I did confirm it works with Google Music's "MusicFX" setting.

I bought V+ pro and while it did help with some of the volumes, it didn't fix them all. My phone is rooted. I like the phone except for the volume issue and usb mode settings. I am beginning to think that I will return it because of the volume issue. I thought 4.02 was to fix that. I agree with a previous poster, how do we let Samsung and Verizon know about this problem.

I was still unhappy with Volume+ Pro, so I contacted Samsung. They told me to do a hard reset. You lose all your data, but it helped. Still not as loud as I would like, but much better than what it started as. I am reloading apps, so I am anxious to see how Volume+ works then.

FWIW -- I am using Volume+ also. I also rooted this weekend, so I obviously did a hard reset. Let me tell you ... Several people at work have commented "Damn that ringer is freakin LOUD" ... LOL Even YouTube and Netflix are loud. These were my biggest gripes when I bought the phone.

I downloaded a bunch of ring tones and notification stuff from Zedge. The tones that come with device seem to be sampled very low.

I am really starting to love this device. :D

That's really odd that a factory reset has upped the volume - well out of desperation (I much prefer the GS2 after bring the ET4G that we have left from a Sprint trial, but I need a phone on VZW, so the GNex is the next best thing in my case, so with the mid Jan return date, hoping there's a volume fix, camera fix etc... - picked one up yesterday, a Razr for my wife.

Copying over my notification tones, they are a decent volume , thin but decent volume - but YouTubeNetFlixix and playing MP3's with Mort Player or Google Music are still very low. Maybeyb then the reset will help if you guys say so, will have to mess around and see ....

One thing that drove me nuts and I resolved - copying files via MTP (really missing USB mass storage mode which is def faster for mesuccessfulsful copies via MTP only work if I copy files / folders into the ROOT of the GNex internal storage - otherwise file copies fail.

I saw many others had this issue - while some have no issues copying files - I'm Win7 x64, not sure how that could make a diff - but after switching cables, USB ports, installing the Samsung MTP drivers etc. - I just happened to notice that a copy into the ROOT of a small MP3 (ring tone filesuccessfulssfull going into the ROOT while if I copied it to a "download" folder, it would fail each time (it would just sit and after a few minuthe , teh copy would fail).

So if anyone has issues with file copies - try to they to teh ROOT, off topic but spreading the word as it saved me much grief to learn this the hard way.

My REAL problem though - 3G has lost connrequiringrequireing a restart (airplane mode ON and OFF didn't help) - this happened with the Bionic that I tried for a whole couple of days at launch (which drove me to to try Sprint and the ET4G) and I bought my wife a Razr yesterday - it has also lost it's 3G connection (we are in a non LTE arenearbyugh mearby there is LTE). I can try to work on the camera, speaker etc. - but the data issues have to clear up, frustrI'mng but i'm desperate and will try to make it work .

If I solve thNetFlixbe / Netflix, low volume - via a reset or any other means, I'll be sure to post here and keep checking for other's solutions - thanks for the info.

Will boosting the volume ruin the speaker? I don't want to break my new phone :(

You have to go into settings, sounds, after volume plus is installed, you will see n addition to what you are stating the Music FX option, u will then also see Volume + under Music FX, a new option is there for volume plus.

In place of Music FX select Volume Plus, this will activate Volume + .

Maybe I'm wrong but until i selected volume plus in under settings, sound, it didn't seem to make a difference. Even so.it makes a small.difference, the speaker only distorts.

I picked up Razr for my.wife, GNexus for myself yesterday, with the mid January return period figured I'd try the GNexus.

Copying files to the GNexus over MTP, if i don't copy.to the root of the GNexus storage area, file copies will hang, copy to the root.no problem. This is aggravating as i like to use the PC to move around files and folders on the phone but if doing anything other than copying to the root, even moving files around within the phone's storage it hangs. I read many examples of others having file.copy issues (slow, not reliable etc)

Seems some don't have file.copy.issues., def miss mass storage mode.

Lost 3g connectivity once already, in a non LTE area at the moment. The display with the same pics and wallpaper used on epic touch, on GNexus colors are dull, camera wasn't as bad as expected but not much better than my original Droid indoors. Probably will go.back but i can't use a gs2 on Verizon so i wanted this phone to meet or.exceed the gs2 so badly, 2 yrs to live with so many shortcomings is rough. Guess as much as hate too, waiting another few months after waiting all 2011 may be the answer. Unless the GNexus grows on me. Right now and all.day today I'm.using the epic.touch wifi only still, ha.

With the search bar at the top and virtual buttons, there's to me slightly less room.on the GNexus over the 4.5" ET4G, only when playing a YouTube video.full.screen is the GNexus slightly larger and then it's a small amount and the colors are washed out. I think anyone that says the GNexus blows away the gs2, at least the ET4G, they haven't used the epic touch much or at all as the camera, speaker, vibrant display (i will.take quality over resolution), etc - then ics will be avail and the new ToucWiz i dont mind, it actually makes for useful stuff like joining Facebook contacts, power widget with rotation and other items, this is.off topic I'm realizing, sorry, just frustrated.

Good luck to us all with getting the volume situation corrected, play a few YouTube videos for those that say they can't comment on the speaker.
