NOVA or Apex Laucher vs TouchWiz - Please Help

I've tried ADW Launcher, Nova, Apex and Go Launcher EX - even after all that, I've reverted to the default TouchWiz...

For me it just works, and initially when I tried a different launcher it was merely to get the main screen to go to landscape mode.

I am LOVING TouchWiz right now and continue to until Nova, Apex, Go, or somebody has...

-Unread indications for Exchange Email or just email in general
-Calendar and task widgets that are as nice as TouchWiz or can at least use the same ones

GO Launcher has it. Not sure about the others

I am not sure if someone has mentioned this, but you should intall an app like homew switcher which allows you to go between launchers. So if you do not like the new installed launcher, you can switch back to Touch Wiz. I really like the paid version of the Nova launcher. Does wonders for my Moto Razr Maxx.

Both Apex and Nova offer email notifications, not sure if/how it works for Exchange.

.
Try Android Pro Widgets...

Not sure I understand the point of that app. I have Nova, Apex, and Touchwiz installed and I can easily switch between each one. If you set one as default you can go to either device settings or launcher settings and reset the default, which allows you to choose again.

Much like the widgets for turning things like wi-fi on and off, it eases switching in between launchers. I think it is just a matter of deleting a few steps and being able to set default upon switching.

Thanks - that makes sense. I'm not sure switching launchers is something I need to be able to do from a widget but it's good that there are options!

Still it's not many steps. With Nova, from home screen, you press menu, nova settings, then click select default home and bam, done.

Well, I've been looking at Apex and Nova, and am just going to go with Nova. Doesn't really seem to be much difference.

But I got a question: How do I set a scrollable wallpaper with Nova? I see the option for it, but when I go to set the wallpaper, I still have to crop it to one screen's worth of image, just like Touchwiz. What am I doing wrong?

Also, maybe someone can answer this question that I've been wondering about: What is so freaking hard about having unread counts for Exchange emails? I know Sense and Touchwiz (and I think Blur) do, so why do none of these other launchers offer it? For that matter, I can't even find a widget that does in the Play Store. I would think Exchange is used enough it would warrant support for unread counts, and I have a hard time believing HTC and Samsung are so smart that they can do it but nobody else can. So what's the deal?

Have you tried Missed it?

The default calander widget is nice, BUT you can not resize it. It takes up an entire screen and that along with TW's 4x4 grid is a deal breaker for me. What's the point of a widget if its the same size of the app?

I'm using Calander Pad and along with Nova's 6x7 grid, the widget takes up less than half the screen, leaving room for other utility widgets on the same screen.

I tried the free version of apex and nova. After using both I bought the nova launcher. I still need to configure to my exact specs but so far so good. I won't be using TW any longer.

I really like Nova. I think it's very close to what stock ICS would be. I like Go as well and go has some great widgets, but I'm sticking with Nova for now.

I was using GO, but it was getting a bit laggy so I switched to Nova. Very impressed with how smooth it is.

I have used apex, tho its almost identical to nova, it has crashed in me a couple of times.

I also tried go launcher, it has the most eye candy features and it's free too but the problem was it was draining my battery faster.

I'm now in the free nova, still testing it against touch wiz. I have nothing against touchwiz tho. I would happily use it. If all goes well with nova I might get THE Paid version.

Question... what's the benefit of granting Nova Launcher root privileges? I loaded the free version, & definitely like it better than Touchwiz -- more apps in the dock + scrolling dock open up a ton of real estate, for one thing. I didn't grant it root though, so I wonder what features I'm missing.

& FWIW, Nova seemed smoother than Apex in the small amt of time I played with both on my GS3. Didn't spend enough time to know whether that could be changed with other settings, though.

I believe root is just to get widgets in the drawer.
