Now that Samsung S10 is announced, any takers?

For the past 3 years I've planned to buy the Pixel phone at launch as my default device of choice, but I was always let down and bought the 8-month old Galaxy device.

I've switched sides now. I am buying the S10 at launch and will now wait for the Pixel devices to see if it can tempt me to switch back. Given that google's devices are usually 9 months behind in specs, and a year behind in style, I doubt I'll be switching back to a Pixel phone. The only thing the Pixel will (arguably) have to offer is a newer version of android.

I’d almost prefer an ultra wide angle to go with the normal setup. I think that would be awesome.

I'll settle for wide.... Sometimes ultrawide has a little too much barrel distortion for mist people's tastes. Maybe they can correct it through software processing. Sometimes I like the barrel effect... kind of nice but it's nice to have normal shots. Can always crop a little or maybe they can make a toggle software fix. I may be asking too much.😃

Well we are hoping that we will see changes with the pixel 4 from the acquired HTC team. The Pixel 3 was already in development so it didn't reap that added benefit assuming that there will indeed be influence.

I agree. Google has been slowly acquiring phone technology over the years including the patents they bought from Motorola. I have no loyalty to any brand and will switch back to Pixel in a heartbeat if the Pixel 4 is up to par.

Either way, I can't wait to get my S10. I've been wanting a phone with a front mounted fingerprint reader since the S7, and I've been really annoyed that there hasn't been 6gb+ RAM in the small/mid size phones. The S10 solves both of those first world problems for me.

Great thread topic! I am interested in the S10e but won't make any final decisions until I see the Pixel 4. I'm really interested in Pixel, LG, Huawei, and OnePlus. Then I'll consider the S10e.

I think out of your choices I'd go with Pixel or Samsung and I'm not a fan of Samsung. One plus is iffy to me but at least now it compatible with Verizon. Huawei wouldn't work for. LG needs to get their camera processing act together instead of putting out more cameras.

Lg needs the screen to be better also

I don't follow 9 months behind in specs. Until these new devices from Sammy in the 10 series the specs were nearly the same. Ram being the main complaint, but Apple shows software matched up to hardware can be blazing fast with less ram.

Pixel 3 needs more RAM. my stuff closes in the background all the time and I hardly have much open. Google was greedy sticking 4gb only. Big miss.

I keep pre-ordering the S10 then cancelling ... Then I'll pre-order the S10+ and cancel it LOL Just can't pull the trigger on either.
Just got an S9 for work and really like what Samsung has done withtheir software and the battery life on the S9 absolutely destroys the battery life on my Pixel 3. But I love Pixel 3 camera and fast updates to new OS and those 2 reasons alone have me hesitant - plus I've got a nice collection of Pixel 3 cases and a Pixel stand.
Really wish Google's trade in program was as strong as Samsung's because Sammy offering my $550 to trade in the Pixel 3 is REALLY making me still considering doing it! LOL

At the end of the day both allow you to make calls, take photos, check social media etc. At least you're saving money right?

Lol im still paying for the s9. I'm not a new phone every year kinda guy anyway. Heck I only replaced my priv with the s9 because it just wasn't keeping up with all I was asking of it anymore. Miss that pkb option though. My 68 year old dad is using it now as his first smart phone. He doesn't do much with it, but what he does he does a lot. Yeah money is an issue lol too. I'll get an s10 when the s11 or 12 comes out lol

I only see one app restarting in the background when I go into it and that is Clash Royale. My other apps all remain open in "stasis" without any noticeable issues. Maybe I'm not a 25-30 apps open kinda guy but I still have the same 10 apps open from last night.

Yeah, I don't even notice. There are certain apps that have to restart by design anyway. All I'm concerned with is the apps I'm currently working with. 4 hours later if an app closes I reload it. I'm not in that much of a hurry.

Same. I only heard from reviewers of a few weird behaviors and a few individuals who have issues the majority of us do not have. So I feel some have defective units and should warranty exchange them out and a few look for flaws more than anybody else.

The early issues like camera closing music apps was fixed and apps closing prematurely was fixed withupdate I simply disabled adaptive battery at the time.

With reviews coming out, it's a complete pass for me. If camera reviews would have been glowing I'd be very tempted but they don't seem to love it so far.
