The instructions of the root file I downloaded told me to uncheck F. Reset time, click PDA and select the .tar file. It tries to boot up fails. What do I do?
I can normally boot back to normal from download mode, but I want to know how to surely fix it so I can root my phone.
Info:
S4
SCH-i545VRUFNK1
Kernel version: 3.4.0

How do you know that it fails to boot? Does it not show anything on the screen or does it just take a long time to boot up?

If you flashed a file in Odin, you need to wait until it says "Pass" on the screen before trying to reboot the device

Well, the Odin page tells me that it has failed with a red bar. I want to know how to make it pass since the boot always fails when I try to root.

Sorry for the late reply. Just asking, do I have to unlock the bootloader to root or something? Or is it already unlocked?

What model of the phone do you have? And do you know your build number?

My phone has an unlocked bootloader, so I just flashed the root file

Once again sorry about the late response. I think the reason why it wasn't rooting was because I hadn't unlocked the bootloader yet.

Build number is KOT49H.I545VRUFNK1, and model is SCH-i545

OK. I think that's the Verizon model, which almost definitely has a locked bootloader. I'd flash the stock firmware to the phone, then try unlocking the bootloader before trying it again

It was already in stock firmware. What do I do after that?

Well if your bootloader is locked (I think all Verizon models are), you're going to need to fix that before rooting.
