Just noticed something with 2.8 that someone else pointed out. If the phone is sleeping and you hit the power button, the capacitive buttons do not light up until you hit one of them

Hey guys. Newbie here. Ive been reading this thread for a while and i think Im ready to dive in and give it a shot. Im going to go with the debloated flavor of froyo. So a few questions before i jump. I will loose everything on the phone? I have already wrote down what apps i will want to reinstall, backed up all my contacts too. Before i remove the battery and begin do i need to adjust any settings on the phone before hand? Are all the files in the first post still good for download? Thanks for your help in advance.

Sounds like your all ready to go. You have all the info you need to rebuild your phone after the wipe during the upgrade. Just download the Debloated Odin file and flash away.

I'm sure this question has been asked, but I can't find it right now so I apologize. But I installed SC 2.6 yesterday, If I were to move SC 2.8 do I need to go back to stock and start over, or can I just download follow the same directions and go from 2.6 to 2.8? And if so should I be flashing the version that wipes data or the one that doesnt wipe data?

APeacheOfStrange - you should be able to flash the non-wipe version of 2.8 via the same instructions and be okay. No guarantee, though. See if you can back everything up first just in case. But it worked fine for me.

Install this version, EB16SC28x_DXC.tar from the first page, if you want to go to 2.8 now. The version with the little x after SC28 means that it is a non data wipe version, which will allow you to move from one version of Super Clean to another without worrying about reinstalling your apps, contacts, etc. It's the way I do it every time since my first jump into the Super Clean Roms.

When you are done flashing, go to your notification bar and pull it down from the top. You should then see SC2.8 to let you know that its installed.

Yes, flash the WIPE version of the ROM, EB16SC28_DXC.tar, without the little x. This is specifically because you're coming from stock Eclair 2.1. Just remember to backup your contacts, apps and the such before making the move. If you flash the ones that don't wipe, you'll be subject to a lot of Force Closes with your applications.

Remember that when your apps install, they're installing in the previous version operating system directories. When you update your OS, files, drivers and directories can change. Dependencies can still be effected whether you wipe or not when going to another version, but you're considerably less likely to have any force close issues with your restore if you wipe first.

Ok,so far Ive only used odin to root/put on superclean 2.6 nonvoodoo.

I wanna flash to 2.8 but something is wrong, I downloaded the non voodoo version, put it to my sd card and went to recoverey to use clock work to flash it(btw its orange--at least thats what color the writing is). went to fladh it and i get this as an error:

installing update
amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported
amend scripting was deprecated by google in android 1.5
it was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the clockworkMOD 3.0 gingerbread based recovery.
please switch to Edify scripting (updater--script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages.
Installation aborted.

ok ,what do I do wrong? lol

When I was trying to group some of my contact lists it still works but FC on me....and on the right hand side I miss some of the alphabet letters on contact list from the grouping contact lists.....any suggestions?

Alright thank you harbormatt and LandShark. One more question,.if I do follow through this, will I keep my homescreen settings and my LauncherPro settings? I like how my phones set up, so will I keep the same settings? If not, how do I backup my things before I go through this?

Launcher Pro has a built in backup feature. I use both. Today the built in backup got me my setting back when google restored my apps. I could have restored over from Titanium but it was just easier to use the built in Backup feature.

Any reason Odin is crashing on the factoryfs (right before modem)part with 2.8 (with wipe)? I have tried multiple times, the same results. Flashing back to 2.4 (with wipe) and I have no problems. Also, no problems flashing to 2.8 in clockwork? Any ideas?

When I went from stock to Superclean 2.4 I had to wipe and did just that. I followed the steps to root phone, installed titanium backup, backed up everything to the SD with tibu, then used Odin to push 2.4 but in your case push the Superclean 2.8 that wipes phone (the first one listed), reboot phone and use tibu to restore apps and data but don't restore any system stuff.

From the Titanium Backup Wiki (yes it can be this simple):

How to make your first backup:
Verify that Titanium Backup has started without warning and that your busybox is OK
Click the Backup/Restore tab
Click Menu (the button), Batch
Click "Backup all user apps"
Let it run, then go back
Individually backup the system data you want. That is most green-colored items. This will be bookmarks, call log, calendar, launcher, WiFi, etc.
Now your backups are in the "TitaniumBackup" directory on your SD card.

How to restore your backups on a new phone, or after installing a ROM (if you wiped your phone):
Download Titanium Backup from Market
Click the Backup/Restore tab
Click Menu (the button), Batch
Click "Restore all missing apps + system data"
Reboot your phone
It's done ! The only thing you may have to adjust is usually your wallpaper/widgets.

TB - HOWTOs : Titanium Backup - Wiki

TiBU has a lot of options. It's really worth 10-15 minutes to read the other articles in the Wiki. It makes a lot of things clearer and explains some of the settings.

i got to step 10 where i have the yellow triangle, but it is not connection to odin. what can i do?

Thanks droidxcon. That did the trick..I guess I should have paid attention to the BIG GIANT ASS disclaimer stating not to flash it :)

all is well..running 2.8 with no problems so far :)
