It would help if you could produce the exact steps to create your specific issue. Even then, you're most likely going to have to post your issue in Adrynalyne's thread over here http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...om-dl09-super-clean-0-4-eb01-2-1-updated.html

That said...

DroidXcon, I have replicated what I believe to be his issue. Since I do not create groups other than what's already in the phone, I wouldn't have found it. But tinkering around, I was able to create an FC...

Tada... we have Force Close!!

Yes!!!! that's what i am getting out of it!!!! oh man.....I hope adrylenalyne can fix this....

"Help"
ok i am an old goat and dont understand half of the new techy language but my mind still works.. i installed the EB01 deoxeded/debloated. the other day and came in last night and tried to go to a newer version , i think it was 2.6,, with odin and when trhings cmae close and the green box was filling up it stopped dead stream and gave me the screen of death. scared the crap outta me but i remembered Droid X's words to "do not panic" just try again. welp i couldnt figure out if he meant just hit start again or re-hook usb and restart or just let the phone set there.. so i paniced and went back after the EB01 that i had. at the end of the install it tried to stop also.. i gringed and it jumped and said success.. not i am game as one can get..but i am a duck outta water here...disabled from viet days and am on 30 VA meds a day. so be patient and tell me which is the best to upgrade to root etc i dont care.. and lets get me there.-- i dont understand the "cwm" program as my VLC opened up and was blank. i do understand odin as far as PDA loading and thats where my Vast knowledge ends..now if you will help i will do the best i can.. if you think i'm gonna be one of those persons who just cant learn at all.. just say so and i'll stay as i am..

umm i have even contemplated tossing this Fascinate thru my PC hd monitor.. and callin all of it quits.. here i set ..

Don't fret. One disabled vet to another, but my hat is off to you, sir. You were there before me, you crawled the trenches before I sailed the seas. Nonetheless, we're all here to help.

Firstly, if you followed the steps from the first post, you placed update.zip on the root of your sd card before you started the whole process of using Odin. Even if you didn't, no worries, because we don't use it with what's being done with Odin. It's only used when doing that CWM thing that I don't even do unless I have to.

That said, if you can get your phone to the big yellow triangle, hope is not lost.

Before getting back to there, I'd reboot your PC, get Odin back up and running, and reflash starting with this version MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service, which will wipe the data from your phone. If that doesn't work, several of us have a few other things up our collective sleeves.

When you're done flashing, you should be up and running. I expect to be awake for a couple few hours tonight, so keep this thread running with your progress. I'd even consider calling you if you have a lot of issues and as long as my 1 year old is still sound asleep.

There can be many reasons as to why the flash doesn't work, like anti malware and anti virus scanners not being disabled when they should be, bad driver installation, my ex wife being the proximity of anything electronic, etc.

ooooh i see
thanks
i was updating from the original elclair...
what would be the best way to back up everything i have right now, without taking an immense amount of time?

Well, if you can, back up your contacts to Verizon's Backup Assistant. You can also export them to your SD card as an extra backup, just in case.

If you are not worried about losing any installed apps, then just install the file marked: 'EB16SC28_DXC' ... that is the WIPE version. (The non-wipe version has a little 'x' after the 28)

That will perform a full wipe of your system and install SC 2.8 on your system... should be good to go then.

Hope that helps!

Also... if you're able to do it, you can use Titanium Backup (download from market) to backup the apps you want to save (it will back them up to sd card). Then, when you wipe and install new SC 2.8, you can re-download titanium backup form the market and restore your apps, since you will be rooted and ready to go.

If you find this application useful, pay for the full version. It's worth its proverbial weight in gold and will save your ROM flashing butt a ton of time restoring or recovering, and is worth the cost for the first time you use the zero click restore.

What did the other fellow say? I can't seem to find a reply that someone else made. Regardless of who's process you follow, I definitely want to make sure that my data doesn't conflict.

Droidxcon's process on the original post is pretty straight forward, and why I camped out here a while before pulling the trigger. I've yet to see anyone brick their phone. Fark it up a bit, maybe, but they've all been recovered as far as I have read.

ok standupdad and i cant remember the other name , but back again to both of you,
i dl'ed that file "SuD" and loaded it into odin ..
well step by step here i go.. dl'ed the file' from mega etc etc ..
1.both the ph and my PC
2.fired up Odin (ver 3.13 i think is corrcet #)
3.hooked ph to PC by usb cable
4 holding the volumn down button on ph#
5.it was doing fine but at end right before finish it stopped saying there was a problem with Odin

I am in the process of reflashing it again from within Odin and its standing still at it says "md5 completed sucessfully"
"leave cs" and it now is still and the final wordings below the first two says "Setup connection"

so what do i do ..remove cable and install battery and see what happens or ??????

If you get a successful flash, the phone will power off. That's when you remove the cable and insert your battery and power on the phone. That's where it will "hang" for a bit at the boot animation of the purple colored honeycombs, and then boot to the desktop of the phone. About 5 minutes.

PM me your number if you're still getting issues.

Zero-Click Restore.... you just made an honest man out of me... to purchase I go! Thanks, SuD!

when you have a couple hundred apps that need your permission to restore, it gets old really fast. only had to have it happen to me once to go to the market and pay for the app. next restore.... tap on ti, tap on menu > batch, tap on run restore > run the batch and then get get a root beer, come here and type away while the restore takes care of itself.

Personally, I'm not against any particular version of what's been leaked and/or hacked, as for what I prefer and why...?

I prefer Super Clean, and the latest version just because those are typically most tuned as time goes on. If you need to have Verizon support in a ROM for things like vcast, then you may be bound to similarly constructed versions of the ROMs just because they're not going to have what appear to be critical vcast support files from being removed.

Just my opinion, but there it is. In parallel, I purchase pc parts to make the pc I want. When it comes to software, I load what I want. I don't want to be bogged down by the hardware and software. When I buy a laptop, I wipe it clean and reload only the OS, and then load on all of the drivers needed, and applications wanted.

The system belongs to me that way, and is akin to how I look at the phone. If I needed vcast support, I wouldn't be running SC unless I knew that there was clear support for it, and since they like to tinker with adding something in one version and remove it in another, like they did with the TW video player, I just go and load it back in. In your case, I wouldn't know the first thing to load back in to keep support for something that I'm paying for.

I hope that answers your question. As it gets later and later, I get more rambly and rambly.

No need to root if you're using Odin. Just use the DI01 stock ROM from DroidXcon's previous links to get back to Verizon stock. That ROM is not rooted, which is to your benefit because you don't want to give a rooted phone back to them in case they decide to whine about your mad hacking screwing up the phone. Additionally, nothing needs to be rooted in order for you to go back or forward, as Odin is taking care of all of the work. I thought the same thing when I tried going back to DI01, way back when.

Use of Odin with any of the files that DroidX provides does not force anyone to root anything.

Oh nice. I wish I would have known that before I rooted my phone. Either way. It's back to stock and slow as hell again. That 2.8 was pretty *****in' I wish I could have kept it on there and in working order.

did you flash back to DI01?

Kind of still working on it. Been calling back and for a few times, but long of the short, Odin keeps pooping out on him. The last time it showed the blue bar going what appeared to be all the way across the screen, but since it failed before it finished, we know that he didn't get a good flash. He's even tried to power it up normally, and the phone is only allowing bootloader mode for the yellow triangle.

Current round is av is off, reinstalling drivers, use of ports in back of pc, and even downloading a new version of odin if I remember right. What's odd is that he previously flashed an EB01 ROM with success.
