So far so good but we'll see if it stays that way this time.
Now I'm going to listen to The Bled until I pass out.
Thanks for the help, bro.

its kernel related,,,,and when you pull down the notification bar it will tell you if its on 2.8
No it's a different type of file system that kind of reformats the memory of the phone in a way it wasn't meant to be. Basically something beginning rooters should stay away from.
Yeah I was rooting, flashing and modding for over a year with my hero and I still consider myself a noob especially now that I started with the fascinate and feel like I'm getting raped by this phone.

Hey guys. Newbie here. Ive been reading this thread for a while and i think Im ready to dive in and give it a shot. Im going to go with the debloated flavor of froyo. So a few questions before i jump. I will loose everything on the phone? I have already wrote down what apps i will want to reinstall, backed up all my contacts too. Before i remove the battery and begin do i need to adjust any settings on the phone before hand? Are all the files in the first post still good for download? Thanks for your help in advance.
Ok, so this is the strangest thing now. I have successfully flashed sc 2.6 by itself. No theme, no nothing else, and all my contacts are there, text messages are a little old, but only by a few days, and my LP setup is there with the colored icons. So what's my best plan of attack to go to 2.8 and keep my LP setup?
On your phone, hit the menu soft key then go =>settings=>applications=>development and make sure usb debugging is checked. Now plug your phone into your pc with the usb cable that came with the phone. Pull down the notification bar and click on usb connected, click on the gray "connect usb storage" bar, then hit OK. you should have an auto play window pop up on your pc. Click "open folder to view files" That first directory that opens up is the root or base of your sd card. That is where the update.zip file needs to go.

First off Thank you!! Ive learned a bunch from reading all your posts. Sounds like all systems go then. Im going to give this a shot tomorrow when i get up. Kinda sleepy now and dont want to forget a step and mess up. Ill be back in here tomorrow to post an update and any additional questions i come across. Thanks again for your help!!
just flash 2.8
Soooo obviously I don't know anything. Just flashed 2.8 and my LP setup is in tact. I swear when I did it the first time I had basic, plain white LP icons in the dock. You have saved my phone from going out the window once again bro.
Thank god I felt like a hack tonight, its like I took the long way.around for everything

Tell me about it. I tried so many different things, and the solution was so simple it wasn't even funny. Although I'm really not happy about having to flash cwm all in ODIN every time I flash a new ROM.
Does the clockwork I provide not work with anything

Which one do you provide cwm froyo? It works just fine for installing, but I've had all kinds of trouble trying to restore nandroid backups with it.
