Now that I have 2.9 on toooooo THEMES!!!!!

Crap i am addicted to this Root, Rom, and Flash syndrome...

You're welcome. It doesn't take long to get addicted to it. Especially with the growing number of options out there with themes, patches, kernels, ROMs.

I have another dumb question....What's the difference btw launcher and launcher pro? and I got launcher pro by installing Darkcombo theme.....if its good stuff how do i get it without installing theme...?

the launcher that super clean comes with , or touchwiz,,,what launcher are you comparing launcher pro to?

Launcher pro has alot more features such as expandable customizable dock icons. also has transition effects for example when switching between home screens you can make it turn like a cube plus many other effects. also has features such as being able to adjust the memory usage for the interface to run smoother. also if you purchase it you can adjust widget sizes and also has launcher pro custom widgets for things such as calendars contacts and social networking . plus much more

Sorry about that. I'm such a fan of LP now that when I saw that I just focused on that part of your question.

@everyone, I created these packages so that a newb could get a custom rom with the least amount of learning curve....if after that they want to learn to use cwm they can......i for one use both cwm and odin.......I'm creating a thread on how to use cwm and I will be attaching a link to it in the OP within the next couple days.........Odin is just an option I by no means say its better or worse than cwm way. It's all about the end user and what they feel comfortable using.....

That's why I came here. I like windows utilities to do the process done here. Then after that, I started using Recovery for patches. I feel comfortable using either. Again, if it wasn't for DXC's thread, I may have never pulled the trigger.

And if he doesn't come out with a 2.9 package soon, I will revert back to stock out of spite.

Is the EB16 out? When I DL'ed SC2.8 I just check my build and I'm still using EB01.. Awesome work by the way. I love using SC.. props to that.. This forum has also helped me out tremendously.

If by the sd card thing you are referring to putting update.zip on your sd card this is how you do it:
With the phone on, hit the menu soft key and go settings=>applications=>development and make sure usb debugging is checked. Now plug your phone into your pc with the usb cord that came with your phone. After the phone connects, pull down the notification bar and click on usb connected. Your phone will go to a screen with a droid, click on the gray "connect usb storage" bar below the droid, click ok in the pop up, wait a little bit while the sd card is mounted. An auto play pop up should appear on your pc, click "open folder to view files." The window and directory that pops up is the root or base of your sd card. Download and save the update.zip file directly to this location if your pc allows that, or save update.zip to your pc, then drag and drop it to that location. That simple. And this is also how you will save any other zip files such as themes, ROMs by themselves, patches, or add-ons, to your sd card. When you are done, click the gray "turn off usb storage" bar on your phone. Done.

After doing that just follow the steps in the first post of this thread to the letter. Take your time and make sure you are reading each step carefully and it should be a breeze. Most people are reporting this whole process takes them anywhere from 15-30 minutes.

I've read a lot about enabling usb debugging before mounting the sd card. Why is that necessary? I have been able to mount without enabling usb debugging when I was completely stock and after I jumped to SC2.8 (via DX's odin package which was my first odin experience).

Hey all, after getting my replacement phone a few weeks back, I think I've just about decided to try and flash a ROM again. I want to make sure that I have the correct steps so I don't ruin this phone too. Please correct me if I have any steps wrong.

1) I have downloaded drivers from the link in the first post
2) I have downloaded ODIN to my computer
3) I have downloaded winrarx64 for windows 7 64 bit
4) I have downloaded update.zip

I have two questions, first, do I transfer the file update.zip just as it is to my sd card? or do i extract?

and second, is there a sc 2.9 tar file available yet? or would i use the 2.8 WIPE version, and then upgrade to the 2.9 through cwm?

sorry that's actually like 4 or 5 questions...

any info you gurus could give me would be GREATLY appreciated!!! thanks in advance to any replies!!!!

update.zip goes straight to the sd card AS IS and make sure it's not under a folder.

2.8 is what you'll want to use and then you can just use the .zip file that Adrynalyne has posted in the other thread to get to 2.9.
