Hey, with what Landshark wrote in #2923 using the cwm-recovery-all.tar thru Odin, should that be done before the Odin 2.9 SC or after? or should I just flash Adry's 2.9SC thru the new cmw that would be installed with Landshark's method.

If you flash it through clockwork it will give you cwm ALL..... if you use my method you would have to flash it with odin , after you flash and boot up SC 2.9

Yeah, sorry about that and all the confusion. I posted that before I found out how great Adrynalyne really made 2.9. If you want to flash the sc 2.9 through cwm and have never done it just follow my instructions in post #14 on page two of this thread: http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...answer-phone-when-receiving-calls-rooted.html
Then follow the instructions found in the link in my signature.

Do you mean in 2.9 over 2.8? I can tell you 2.9 seems to be much more stable. I have been pounding it withe all kinds of flashing and haven't had one force close or any kind of issue or problem. As far as battery life, 2.9 just came out about 7 hours ago, so it is too early to tell. We will not see any significant changes in battery life until Verizon release Froyo officially and the devs can get their hands on the source code and put out some custom and undervolted kernels. So in a sense we already have froyo, but are still stuck waiting for the official release :'(

yes, sorry i did mean 2.9 over 2.8. so there is no more PC tethering with 2.9? how unstable was it in 2.8? That is the main reason my girlfriend wants her phone rooted. I am going to go to 2.9 and maybe keep hers at 2.8 for awhile to keep her happy. Thank you droidXcon and landshark for your replies! you guys are what keeps this forum going
thanks,,, i mean you can still flash the tethering kernel over 2.9.... problem is there was never any solid proof that it was working that great anyway,,, what you could do though is bring her back down to a non froyo build and use tethering.. if you want i can make her a DL09 package,,,superdark maybe with a custom kernel......i would refrain from using tethering till custom kernels came out for froyo
Astro will do it. Open the app, hit the menu button, choose Tools and then Application Manager/Backup. Astro only backs up the app, no data or market links and MyBackup Pro only restore the market links and app data on rooted phones.
yeah, in the OP Adrynalyne said the EB16 kernels were unstable but it worked fine for me, at least the voodoo kernel. And it seems to have been what was getting rid of the audible hiss/ringing while on a call if the screen came on.
I really like 2.9 but for some reason my battery life bites like a 1977 Ford LTD sucks gas. I tried battery wipes to no avail. It has something to do with the browser because the battery life is fine when sitting idle or using the phone but if I do some browsing it drops every couple of minutes. Hopefully the ota comes soon so something can be done about it.
I just did your update from stock to 2.8 on my verizon fascinate - all went well. Works great. Which flavor of the 2.9 do you reccommend that I use - I did the first thru Odin. All went well but I am not a phone geek - just point me to a stable version that works.
