Ok...question. If I have already root with 2.2 and have CWM full (with red kernel), do I simply just use Odin and flash the 2.9 and then flash 2.9.2? Anything I need to remove or change first? And when doing so, does this flash with the full CWM or will I need to install the red kernel again after the flash?

Yeah flash 2.9 then 2.9.2 with ODIN.

I'm not sure if it is 2.9 or 2.9.2 that contains CWM ALL in the packages.

These packages come with a kernel so after your done flashing 2.9.2, reflash the nonvoodoo touchwiz kernel of your choice.

you will need to flash cwm all seperate , it does not lend itself to Odin as of now

Excellent! I can handle that. So, now my final question for now is this. I recently did a back up on my device using CWM. What happens if I flash SC 2.9.2 and I dont like it or it doesnt work properly? What do I do to revert back to my current state? I just wanna make sure I can go back if I need to. I feel fairly comfortable flashing and stuff now, but Im still shakey on what to do if 1) it doesnt work or 2) I dont like the ROM.

you can always flash with odin.... nandroid backups only back up the OS so if you restore it you need to make sure you are using the cooresponding kernel and radio

ok so here is a couple problems,

  • 1st. Always disable voodoo lagfix whenever you are flashing nonvoodoo over voodoo. Otherwise you will have no internal memory.
  • 2nd if you were on eclair and wanted to upgrade to froyo you should have heeded my warnings on the original post about not using the no wipe package if you were flashing from eclair.

i would suggest using a full stock package with odin to fix your problems
http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...faq-plus-stock-unrooted-rooted-downloads.html
use that thread, then use the package you just used

Thank you thank you thank you~!! YOU ARE AMAZING~!!

Oh my gosh~~ I don't know how is this working but I believe you are the master

and hate to say this but YOU ARE GENIUS~!!!

Thank you once again~

root on 292 issue

since upgrading to 292 everything is great but when i tried to runt he GPS fix from http://forum.androidcentral.com/verizon-fascinate-rooting-roms-hacks/77796-gps-fix.html
it does not let me update the file?

it tells me root explorer has been granted Superuser
the folder is set to r/w
if i try to rename the file it tells me rename is successfull but if i exit the folder and come back the file name is back to it's original name. (was just to test)
the file is listed rw-r--r--

what am i missing?

Thanks

I was trying to see if there is a way to have the top buttons from the drop down menu for GPS, WiFi, MobileData and so on; to look like they did when the phone was running on eclair. I was directed to check out a thread but when I go there and click to preview it most of them direct you to xda and if you don't have an account with them it won't let you preview it. Does anybody know if that is a possible task through a patch or something?

Changing the look of the toggles in the quick panel can only be done in one of two ways that I know of. 1) Check out the theme developers pages at XDA (so yes you will need to register for a free account just like you did here), and flash a theme where the toggles look like you want them to or 2) Learn how to theme yourself so you can change them. There is no patch to change them.

Which file are you trying to update? Are you trying to change the script like the instructions say in that thread? If so, at the top of the page when you are in root explorer should be a white or gray rectangle that will either say R/O (Read only) or R/W (Read/Write.) Whatever the box shows is what you will switch to if you click on it. So in order to be able to write the box needs to say R/O.

Since we're running on 2.9.2 does that mean that we don't get any adds on our apps? I've noticed it on a couple of them that I no longer have adds in them.

Guys,

Im running SC 2.9.2 and was wondering what the latest CWM was. Can someone link me to it so I can download it? Thanks

can anyone offer me any advice? Im on SC 2.9.2 and I havent gone to anything EC01 because I have been under the impression that new better things are coming soon. I would be comfortable moving to the EC01 rom, but I would have to use a friends PC to do so, so I would rather not go through the hassle if something else will be coming soon.

I dont know if anyone has any insight or advice, but any would be appreciated. Thanks!
