Re: [ODIN][Released by p3droid] Leaked Gingerbread EC09 Full Stoc

On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate CM7? Because this GB build I have right now is about a 3. Great battery life, Netflix, but the crashes, slow speeds, and dead SD card really suck.

And a follow-up question. To install that after having this one on my phone, can I use the standard Odin flash method, or do I have to do some extra steps?

I know this is a resurrect but its worth answering for anyone else who might come along:

If you rate the two ROMs in two categories: "Feature-completeness" and "Stability" I would say that the EC09 leak deserves a 10 in feature-completeness for touchwiz+ gingerbread, great battery life and improved reception/GPS, and it deserves a 3 in stability: tons of crashes, and SD card issues. So, the CM7 (and all its variants) earn a 10 in stability: virtually no crashes, no SD card issues at all. However I would have to be honest and say that they earn a 3 in feature completeness: no ambient brightness adjustment that works, no prox sensor during calls that works, PITA exchange email, and GPS "effectiveness" is really bad overall, regardless of good/bad signal.

I agree completely with this review. I'd add that my signal strength and GPS lock were better on the GB leak, too.

Still, I can't live with a program ate my SD card and crashes a lot.

Re: [ODIN][Released by p3droid] Leaked Gingerbread EC09 Full Stoc

Im about to pull my hair out!!

Im at the point where you click PDA and upload the gingerbread file. I thought I downloaded the correct 7-zip program.

When I click PDA and browse for that file the only thing I find is a folder labeled "7-zip". Click on that and it opens an empty folder called "Lang"

Its like the file disappears.

Help plz!!

Oh........one more thing, I was running stock froyo before I attempted this now im back to bone stock 2.1????? I followed the directions to a T

Thanks in advance

Oh, yeah. I forgot to mention. I DID remove the SD Card before installing as directed in the instruction. It was working fine for about a week before it started locking up sporadically. Then I lost everything on the SD Card and couldn't even reformat it.

Yeah, well, welcome to the party. If you go back through the entire thread -- not a fun chore -- you'll see that many of us had the same thing happen.

Really? I already odin to a custom rom after this anyways. The rom i'm running right now does not fry your card like this one. I'm running powerwash from xda forums from build Deodexed EH09 Gingerbread 2.3.4

Re: [ODIN][Released by p3droid] Leaked Gingerbread EC09 Full Stoc

Hey all! I just installed this Gingerbread EC09 Firmware 2.3 to my fascinate. Is there a way to root this and still keep Gingerbread EC09 on my phone? I just want to be able to debloat it and want to be able to tether. I really don't want to to have to go to another ROM because I like this one. Please help? I am still new at this. Thanks!!!

Unless you're already looking into buying a new SD card, i would recommend switching to ANY other gingerbread rom. this one has been known to eat sd cards at will, and it's only a matter of time before you become the latest victim.

If you're looking for basic touchwiz functionality, i'd probably go with geewiz

Re: [ODIN][Released by p3droid] Leaked Gingerbread EC09 Full Stoc

I just flashed this ROM after backing up everything. At first my SD card had all my files, but a day later, my card said it was "corrupt" so I had to re-format it. Seems to be working fine now and I'm just using Dropbox to put things back on my phone.

One question -- i cant' seem to get root access to disable the bing search. I using ES File Explorer. I tried Root Explorer but it keeps crashing.

Thoughts? Hate the Bing....

Thanks.

Scratch that, reverse it. My SD Card is definitely hosed. It won't save any data to it. I guess I should have followed the step "remove your SD Card"!

Question: Will this ROM continue to corrupt the SD Card or was it just during the installation? I don't want to put in a new card and have that one corrupted too.

Thanks.

Re: [ODIN][Released by p3droid] Leaked Gingerbread EC09 Full Stoc

CLUELESS NEWB ALERT:

I tried searching and the results have me more lost than ever.

I bought a Verizon Galaxy S off of fleaBay and it showed up flashed to Cricket. *facepalm*

I can't get past the 'Activate your phone with Cricket' screen to get to the "2. Go to Settings > Applications > Developement > Enable Debugging" step.

I have the Samsung drivers downloaded and installed as well as Odin and I'm also downloading the CI500_VZW_EB01_FROYO_REL.tar.md5.tar as well as SCH-I500_VZW_EC09_GINGERBREAD_DEBUG_REL_tar.7z on the way as well (the mirrors are very slow).

Short version of the question, I need to get this back to at least stock Verizon form to get it activated, then I can start fooling around. Any advice or shortcuts that you guys would recommend?

I appreciate you help in advance and I will certainly contribute where I can (more tablet experience, but not a lot)

Thanks everyone!

Re: [ODIN][Released by p3droid] Leaked Gingerbread EC09 Full Stoc

@WMArkFelt your wish, is our command:

Return to Stock (ED05 Froyo)
Here's how you can easily return to stock ED05 Froyo.

NOTE 1: You do NOT need to be rooted in order to return your phone to stock (but you probably wouldn't be doing this if you weren't rooted).

NOTE 2: Make sure that you have the Samsung drivers already loaded on your computer.

NOTE 3: This process will return your phone to an unrooted, fully bloated, completely stock out-of-the-box Samsung TouchWiz ED05 build. When finished, you will have the stock ROM, kernel, modem, system files, as well as stock recovery. All user data will be erased.

Downloads:
Download Odin

Download the stock DL09 (Eclair) package (place this file somewhere on your computer where you can easily locate it).

Download the EA28 "update.zip" file from (place this file somewhere on your computer where you can easily locate it; you'll need to move it to the root of your SD card later).

Instructions:
1. Open Odin on your PC. Put your phone into download mode. (Refer to this guide for instructions on how to use Odin.)

2. Click the PDA button in Odin (NOT the PHONE button) and navigate to the "CI500_VZW_DL09_ECLAIR.tar.md5" file you downloaded earlier.

3. Click START. When this process has finished, you'll be notified in Odin (succeeded 1 / failed 0) and your phone's screen will go blank.

4. Unplug your phone and re-insert the battery. Power the phone on and let it boot completely.

5. Connect the phone to your computer, enable USB connection, and copy the EA28 "update.zip" file to the root of your SD card (not in any folders). Power the phone off.

6. Press and hold BOTH volume buttons. While holding them, press the power button. Hold all three until the "SAMSUNG" logo appears, then let go of all of them. This will boot your phone into stock (blue) recovery.

7. Use the volume buttons to highlight "apply sdcard:update.zip" and select it using the HOME softkey. Let the process finish.

8. Use the volume buttons to highlight "reboot system now" and select it using the HOME softkey. Let the phone boot completely. Your phone will now be running stock EA28 (Eclair). From this point on, you will need to perform OTA updates to get to a current Froyo build.

9. Tap the MENU softkey and then Settings > About phone > System updates > Check New.

10. You will see a screen showing that a new software update is available. Tap 'OK' to continue. Then tap 'OK' again to proceed with the download and install.

11. The phone will automatically reboot after the install has completed. You will see a confirmation that the install was successful. Tap 'OK' to continue. Your phone will now be on build ED04 (Froyo).

12. You will again see a screen showing that a new software update is available. Tap 'OK' to continue. Then tap 'OK' again to proceed with the download and install.

13. The phone will once again automatically reboot after the install has completed. You will see a confirmation that the install was successful. Tap 'OK' to continue.
