[ODIN][Released by p3droid] Leaked Gingerbread EC09 Full Stock package

For those of you reporting that your SD card nuke wasn't just after a reboot or a USB connection, are you *sure* the phone didnt reboot on its own via a FC-crash? I have observed this happen about 3 times now, the phone can be in use or just sitting there and it will do a FC buzz and reboot. Unless you have an app running that you notice is gone, or are careful to check the battery stats for a reboot event, you won't even know it did it.

Ugh.. mine was wiped just now! Crap. lol No root, SU, etc. Just the stock flashed GB. Was texting someone, put phone in my pocket, then five mins later went to take a picture... no preview came up, so I checked the gallery, and all files were corrupted. I rebooted phone, all files GONE. I've verified this with my pc. This is a sad day. had a lot of important pics. back to froyo I guess lol.

same happened to me all i see are the regular android folders and some files that you can not delete manually through your pc or file manager. the only way to do it is ODIN either a previous version or GB again format the sd card through CWM.

Warning to all who are just installing this leaked version to back up your SD card before attempting to install the leak or flash the Nameless version.

Tried the Nameless version and feels better than the leaked version. I'll find out for few more days

I'm going to assume there isn't any way to recover the files that I can't see any longer. Right?

I went ahead and flashed back to the official froyo... but oddly, the wallpaper i had for GB, is still showing... where should I go from here?

There has to be something making these SD wipes. I and others have been on stock, 4, and 4.1 without the issue. But the number of folks having it is pretty high.

Any of the devs have an opinon they would like to share?

Anyone know if I use another SD card if the same thing will happen or does it just affect one and done.

For anyone who experienced the SD card wipe, can you provide the following information so we can try and determine what is causing the SD cards to get wiped and become corrupted:

1) Setup before flashing the Gingerbread leak - ROM, kernel, modem(radio)
2) Are you running just the leaked ODIN build or did you flash the Navenedrob custom ROM
3) If you are running the Navenedrob ROM, did you flash straight to it or did you flash the ODIN leak first
4) Did you root yourself and if so how did you root - Gingerbreak or flash su 2.3.6.1 + busybox 1.19 zip, etc.
5) Did the SD card get wiped only after a few reboots or did it happen without rebooting phone

Hopefully we can find some common denominator that may be causing this, unless the devs are able to identify something in the code that is causing it.

Thank you.

1. Was running ED04 stock rooted on mine
( wife's ED04 stock)
2. Installed leaked GB on both phones ( BU SD cards first & titanium BU)
3. Rooted both phones with super one click V1.19
4. No SD wipe yet, 18 hours :)

Phones are working great and fast.
No missed calls that I know of, before I was missing a bunch

Tried to format SD card through CWM anything to do with the SD card was invalid, maybe its just me though

try installing the GB leaked version through ODIN then CMW3 through ODIN also then before you boot your phone reformat the sd card while in recovery mode see if that works. That's how i manage to format mine cause i cant get rid of those corrupted files while the sd card is plugged in my pc.

if the above doesnt work then you probably got a toasted sd card

Not good cause that is what I did....thanks though

One other weird thing that happened prior to my losing my SD card. I had the phone charging by my nightstand last night, and about 1 AM, it started playing some kind of notification ringtone over and over. It woke me up, so I wasn't too focused on it, but when I tried to shut it off, I couldn't figure out what the notification was. It stopped on its own after about a minute.

To those losing their SD card contents: Google a program called Recuva, download it, and then get a microSD reader for your PC and use Recuva (after doing a "quick format" in Windows) and you can probably recover some/all of the files on the card. You can try this by mounting the card via USB from your phone, but the odds of success are lower.

If you ask me, the phone isn't properly syncing data to the FAT on the card, and any change-state (a FC, a reboot, mounting it via PC, etc) causes it to corrupt the FAT and make the files un-findable. I say un-findable because they are still there (so tools like Recuva can get them back) but the FAT is corrupted so the OS has no idea how to find them anymore. The leak has enough FC-reboots for me to make me think I'm probably not the only one, and if you had an app running that was making changes to the SD card contents and it wasnt properly synced, the next boot will result in a "wiped" sd card.

To those losing their SD card contents, I will ask again: Are you 100% sure the phone didnt reboot (possibly due to a FC that you didn't even notice) or mount/unmount the card (aka attached to PC via USB) prior to you losing your files?

GB Issue on Market

When I had EC02 and 3 installed, there wasn't an issue with the Market and I was able to download pretty much anything I wanted. Since going to ED09 Anything with mapping displays won't show in the Market when you do a search for them. Specifically, Anything from Navionics, or ADW. Anyone else have any issues in this area?:(

Gone back to ComRom 2.1. Enjoyed playing with Gingerbread last few days but I don't think this version is ready for primetime. Never had the SD wipe but was prepared. Battery was ok but not as good as ComRom, and the ROM was sluggish for me. I did have better signal however as a plus.

Good luck with it guys, I'm going to wait and see what TSM does with it before trying it again.

I am not convinced it's gingerbreak, since most/all of the people who use it uninstall it once SU is installed and running, plus it's been seen to happen to people who use the pre-rooted Nameless rom, so the chances of "lasting effects" from gingerbreak like randomly nuking SD cards at a later time seem unlikely... But, here is the link, shamelessly stolen from XDA:

You mean how the search button in-browser results in a search going to bing? Yeah, thats a bit annoying, but I set the home page to google.com and honestly havent had a single instance where i felt like searching when not on the home page and winded up getting results from bing, so...

Well when I'm in the browser sometimes I want to search something really quick and I just click the address bar and want to google something like other android phones have, and it goes to bing. I've seen people get rid of this in the past. Is there a way to completely debing browser and search button from edo4?

It requires a different browser APK since that particular redirect is baked into the browser. In the past we have used the Mesmerize apk but since there isnt a GB leak for them (That i know of) its not possible.

No luck here. I've tried Recuva, SDFormatter, File Scavenger, and Card Recovery. None of them can see any files on the SD. Card Recovery shows 64,000+ bad sectors.

Recuva is an amazing program. I have had great success recovering files that were thought to be gone forever.

Yeah, I think it's time to go back. It's unstable enough to be annoying. Looking forward to the future though! Goodbye Netflix, I hardly knew ye...
