Official 2.0.1 findings thread

Download "Spare Parts" from the market. It has detailed battery usage by app and history. Very nice info .. Might help you determine what is sucking battery ..

Thanks. Will do. I think I found the culprit though, since today I'm only at 80% or so 6 hours in.
UPDATE: 11 hours in, and I'm only @ 60%. I think I found the culprit.

My battery life has been much improved. I unplugged at 6:00 AM yesterday and still had 80% battery life at 11:00 PM. That was a vast improvement. Unfortunately I am having the screen blanking and not returning during calls that I mentioned earlier.

I noticed that my Navigation (Car Home) doesn't work nearly as well. I keep losing my GPS connection (which never happened before), and it will just freeze up on me all the time while driving.

Last night, I took a different route, and it never corrected until I was on the final road to my destination.

Anyone else having Nav issues?

Oddly enough, as I thought it was entirely the apps themselves, dxTop and GDE both have had zero force closes since the update. Except in GDE when looking at wallpapers in the "Theme Wallpapers" gallery. I'm sure that that IS GDE though.

I deleted Google Voice (I didn't have an account), and Layar. So it was one of those two.

My GUESS would be Layar? I haven't heard from anyone who uses Google voice of any battery drain issues. I also use Voice and haven't experienced any issues.

Yeah. I'd be willing to bet it was Layar too, since it's still pretty new to the 2.0 scene and they likely haven't quite refined battery use, and it seems processor intensive.
But I wasn't using Voice, so I figured I'd get rid of it anyways. The app is free, so I'm not losing anything either.

I'm just happy to have a much better battery life now! I lasted 19 hours and only got to 20%. And that was with gps turned on for a while, and on a road trip!

Anyone feel like Android 2.0.1...

Is royally screwing things up? I've seen people complain about their battery's draining than plugging them in and having them spike back to full charge. Last night I went to open my messaging and it opened my browser. I backed out and tried again and it opened my settings for "beautiful widgets" app. Tried it about 10 times and it kept screwing up. I hadn't even used my phone but I could hit the back button like 10 times in a row and it just kept scrolling through program after program after program. Reset the phone and it works now. My gallery says it's not "installed". My Facebook app won't load the page at all, and the browser won't let me access it now. (not blaming Droid, I think that's the new FB security features) I tried signing out of FB and signing back in and now I can't even sign into it. I dunno, not one issue til this new update...Just me?

The only problem I have is the phone will freeze (for a couple of seconds) from time to time maybe a few times a day if that. Sounds like you have it a little worse then me and most others. I never have a problem with BW, FB, or gallery besides the FB widget. If I were you I would be making a trip to Verizon to see about a replacement.

Anyone still getting email notification sounds even though there is no new email? I still get this every so often. Please note that this only happens to my AOL email account on motorola droid not my google email. Google email notification is working great!!!

This just happened to me today! Overall my droid runs amazingly well, but every once in a while it does weird stuff. What you described is exactly what happened to me today. I went to Advanced task killer and killed some apps and that seemed to fix it. Any idea why it would do that?

i woke up this am and my phone was off, actually late for work. i dbl checked it was on b4 i went to sleep. weird.

Mine did the shut off thing yesterday morning. I had to do a dang battery pull to get it to come on. And then I couldn't make any calls. I'd hit send and it would go to main page. Another battery pull and it works fine.

Never had any of these problems. To the two above posters... Do you think it may have run out of battery?

nope. most of the charge was left. This morning, after a few hours, I looked at it and all the apps were off my 3 screens. REALLY weird. I wonder if it's because of Weather Bug app I installed....I'm guessing not...
