With well over a million Droid users, 10,000 isn't all that many.
I agree, I wish there were more transparency in the way this is all going down, but I just think that everybody needs to calm down a little.
We don't need this update to fix anything vital for our use of the device, so I'm just going to take it when I get it. I'm glad we even get updates, as rare and inconsistent as they are.

You're right no fix is needed, well except someone in Moto's and VZW's PR department should have lost their job by now. I would like to have 2.1, but I would settle for "John smith of Moto/VZW is responsible for this problem, he has been fired"

**** this Droid ****, I hated getting kicked in the balls once the Nexus One was announced, I hated seeing the stories about how Motorola is not all that great with Android anymore, and I really hate these software updates.

Folks, 2.1 is not happening. If it does, it will be half assed and there will still be plenty to bitch about. Motorola sure shot themselves in the foot over this.

In some ways, we all should've seen this coming. New technology comes out, and the owners of the old new technology feel like the older kid sitting in the shadows after their newborn sibling is brought home from the hospital for the first time.

I guess the first step to ignoring this jealousy is to either get the new new tech, or just accept that it will always happen this way, and move on.

I used to have an iPhone(Good phone, network sucks) and the experience on Software updates was much better. Maybe this is because the updates were not done over the air(Computer required)

Or maybe they did not require carrier approval process.

I'm actually not upset that this update was pulled... In fact I wasn't even excited when it was announced... Guess what I'M RUNNING IT! It runs great etc etc.

So NOM! On you ;)!

That would be because Apple handles the updates directly and develops the software directly. They don't have to wait for Google to release the code to manufacturing they are the ones that handle it.

Oh look, he thinks he is special.

Or maybe its the fact that this software "update" isn't special at all since we have had it for a half a month or so.

If you guys want the update then go download the .sbf and RSDLite and flash that's about as official as it gets right now... And hey guess what you can flash back if you don't like it.

unless your not tech savy and end up destroying your phone :P

I've sbfed at least 15 times and I still have a good working phone -Knock on wood- I did it this morning just to update the baseband then I went back to Smoked Glass.

For all of you complaining that we have no life just because we want this update. This is a post I made on Motorola support forums and I think it turned out well:

For context:
This came from someone saying some people have no life but to worry about this update and play with their phones. I was going to quote the post but it got edited by a forum moderator

"No life except a phone... Maybe its because we want something cool to play with for a couple weeks and say oh hey iPhone users look at this wallpaper yeah its interactive can your phone do that?

Maybe its because we are tech geeks and this kind of stuff entertains us more than it does others... Maybe that's part of our life because we are in the field of networking, software and all of that geeky tech stuff.

Far from no life and honestly I take offense from that because I'm an IT guy and part of my morning is reading about new technology and how it could benefit my business. That's how I make money I make sure my company can either gain an advantage using this new technology or if its not all that important. So please sir just because you are not in a technology related field don't go flapping your gums just because this isn't part of your life because to an IT guy stuff like this is cool and fun and could get me a promotion if I find out that this is something my business needs to gain the upper hand.

Thank you."
