So all the rooters telling us they have the update.... blah blah blah...

Actually we are way further along than the update. Atleast those of us on roms built from source. The update you guys are getting is way behind.

Sucks but what can we do.

I believe it. The milestone is on a different carrier. They might settle for anything and just release bugs and all. VZW's testing is top notch. Sure it's irritating but had they released a buggy update this thread would be 200+ pages of complaints.

Its mostly on Voda.........Voda OWNS Verizon.

The bad part of this, is a fix might solve googles issue but will probably cause a new problem somewhere else. This could end up being a three way mary-go-round of patches and fixes and we will never see the update.

I get it, but wanted to jab anyway. I was rooted for awhile on a ESE 53 base but when my phone got to a 140 degrees I decided maybe stock was best.

So my point being, No matter what cooked ROM is out there, the updated stock will always be best.
At least from my experience.

At this point Google/verizon/moto should just say Fu@% it and just work on 2.2 for the droid because I'm sure it going to be coming out in a few months anyway. I they stopped focusing their time on releasing 2.1 for the droid and focused on 2.2 and make it droid exclusive for a month or so, they would def gain more respect and and less hostility from droid owners. Hell the droid has sold a lot of units (more than the n1) so why not focus on doubling those numbers and making a clear iphone killer so that nobody could argue that statement, not even iphone owners.

That's why Google should be the distributer of android updates for standard android os. Verizon and moto. Should be removed from the equation. And this would also make it 1 company to blame if it's not released on time rather than 3 where every body is pointing fingers at sombody else. In all honestyi think if they skipped 2.1 for the droid and went to 2.2 asap the droid owners who are annoyed with the scheduling issues with 2.1 would be happy.

In your case, why don't you just keep your droid and wait for the iphone to release for verizon since I know you want to jump ship once that happens haha jk

I love switching phones around, so I'll do the N1 then the iPhone I love the Sense UI, so the VZW iPhone is really gonna have to step it up in order to convince me to jump.

I have actually found that Swype is way faster for me than the physical keyboard. So...at this point, I could see myself switching to an N1 next upgrade...considering this Droid was what I got on an upgrade.

I just hope the N1 comes out in the next 30 days, because I just got a warranty replacement Droid, and have exactly 30 days to exchange for another phone

well then sir, im def jealous haha. i wish i had the extra pocket money to buy a new phone every few months (without contract) seeing as how you like switching phones you could be a source of information and influence and inform others of the pros and cons of each device available.

If its past the original 30 days then no you don't IIRC the 30 days on the warranty is if you crack the screen or drop it in water again you don't have to pay for ANOTHER warranty replacement. But if someone feels like correcting me if I'm wrong go for it.

I actually have had 5 phones in the past year (EnV Touch, BB Storm, Rogue, Eris, Droid) and just trade around on Craigslist and whatnot if I want something new. I'm excited for the N1, if I have to pay for it or not. I'll get it somehow.

If thats how it goes then I could have gotten my droid without selling my tour and trading it in for the droid. But that is not how it goes so thats why I couldn't trade my tour for the droid. I even had multi fru going for me and they still wouldn't let me trade it.

They're already working on froyo for the Droid according to bill23. He said this when people thought the Droid was already going to be EOL'd but instead it was the Droid Eris that is being EOL'd soon. I don't know if it's going to be 2.2, all they're calling it for now is froyo.

Here are his quotes on Froyo:
