Official Battery Life Thread

Here's a screenshot of my battery life - stock battery. And that is constant use wifi on no data. Screen was probably off about 10 min total and I streamed music for about a half hour and watched some you tube. I don't know why that compass app is using so much battery I probably messed w it for 10 min max- might need to find a new 1. This is my first android phone so im not sure if this is good or bad battery and obviously this is not indicative of my regular use.
Edit: phone is set to cdma only and screen set to 100°\° brightness for 3 hours rest of the time about 70

I'm at 67% after 3h 19m off the charger with LTE on. The screen sucks up a lot of battery and I don't even have a live wallpaper on it. Used the browser, did some widget/app stuff, and checked e-mail...I really hope the battery life improves after a while. Screen is at about 50% brightness with auto-brightness off.
I don't really have a barometer for what's "normal" with LTE android phones bc I came from a blackberry storm. Hope mine is "normal" and I don't have to exchange it.

That's not bad at all. Again it will get better after a week or so when phone and battery are worked a little bit and the phone learns how much battery it actually has.

From full charge I went from 6:30pm last night, went to sleep around 3am. Woke up around 10am and it still had 20%. It died at 2pm today. It has been on WiFi most of the time. No 4G. Played a few games, texting, about an hour of talk time, surfing Internet, downloading a bunch of apps, and listen to about an hour of music.

I'm coming from a Bionic and I am used to having Data Saver and Battery Mode options, does the Nexus have that???? I don't have emails syncing or facebook notifications

Thanks! That's good to know, I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it and I hope it does get better!

After 7 hours I am at 31% with the extended battery. This has been my phones operating state

WiFi OFF
LTE OFF
Live Wallpaper OFF
Bluetooth ON
3 POP accounts syncing every 15 minutes
Two gmail accounts
Weatherbug Elite polling every 4 hours
Ubertwitter polling two accounts once every 30 minutes.
Screen was set to auto brightness

Voice calls accounted for 33% of the battery drain (51m, 51s)
Screen took up 30% and was on for 49m, 8s.
ICS used 21% of resrorces. CPU total was 41m, 29s. Keepawake is 1h 44m, 20s
Phone idle used 6%
Cell Standby consumed 5%, Time with out a signal wa s12%. Now that is bloody interesting and it relates back to the other complaints of the radio
K-9 consumed 3%
Media server consumed 2%
The system used 2%

I only checked email, websites, and about 5 text messages all day.

During the time it took for me to write this, the battery dropped to 28%.

I live in a border area so I turned LTE off. I also turned off WiFi to simulate my being at client locations all day. If I was getting these results after a week of using the phone and the OS figuring out how I work there is no way I could keep it. So I guess we'll see how things are in a week.

I am very disappointed with the battery life so far, it make my old Droid X look like a champ! Last night I plugged it in at like 20% and woke up with it only at 47% then had to restart the phone a few times for it to continue charging then like 2hrs later it was at 100%. I took a picture and MMSed it and I was already down to 96%. An hour later I was at 87% and it was just sitting in my pocket (LTE turned off). I finally had to go into the settings when it ate through another 5% in 2 minutes on the browser to turn off data on mobile network. I think there is obviously something wrong with the battery or the phone looking for a network constantly, there is no reason that a phone should go through battery that fast!!

I've never seen a battery just tick away like this before. 46% to 39% after sending a once sentence email.

I've had wi-fi off, 4G off, screen on auto brightness for about 8 hours, max brightness the remainder of the time, bluetooth on for about 2 hours, sent/received about 50 text messages, sent/received about 100 emails, facebook browsing and notifications all day, light web surfing, downloaded about 10 apps. Not a great battery life (compared to DX and before, this is my first 4G phone), but not horrible either. I am expecting the same experience as my past phones in that the first week seems to be the worse on batter life. Hopefully this time next week I will be a happy nerd.

A lot of you, I believe, are coming from 3G phones and have some unrealistic expectations of battery life. I had the DX too. And yes the battery lasted in that, I loved it. From the DX I went to TB I was lucky to get 5 hours out of a charge, I carried around three spare batteries. Trust me this is an improvement from earlier 4G phones. The batteries have to catch up to the technology, no 4G phone is going to get great battery life. It's just that simple. Why do you think the iPhone 4s didn't go to 4G. iPhone users would be scrambling to get Android phones with replaceable batteries, or stuck next to a charger all day long.

Yeah, the battery is pretty bad so far for me also. I ordered the charging dock with the extra battery today. Hopefully it will improve as I use it and, go through some charging cycles.
I'm hurting at work today. I'm down to 32% after 11 hours but, this is after going to my car on breaks and charging it when I could. I wouldn't have made it through the day if I didn't do that.

How do you swipe off running apps?

So far in use it's eating battery but sipping when not in use.

Im assuming you mean hit the right-most button on the screen bottom to bring up recent apps and then just swipe to the right?

I agree about standby. Seems pretty rock solid in that department, but screen on it goes quick.

11.5 hours to 1%. 10 of those hours were on 4G LTE. The screen was at full bright the entire time.
Not too shabby.

Currently at 56% 8h 30m off the charger. 4G on all day, but I'm in a fringe area, goes in and out. Acouple of widgets updating every hour or so. Auto brightness. Downloaded an app, played a round of doodle jump, browsed the web a bit. No phone calls though...I think that's a big reason why it's doing fairly well.

Overall I'm happy. :) Coming from an OG Droid I was worried about the battery after reading all about 4G phone batteries. At the rate I'm going today it should easily last until bed. Although once I'm off work I'll probably use it more...

So i was wondering why the battery is sucking so bad. Been using the phone normally...few calls, some downloads here and there. Within 2hrs down 25%. Then i noticed on the battery use section within the settings the gps was on...but no icon in the notification area. I toggled it, and the icon never came on. Can this be whats killing the battery? Maybe its an ICS thing? Anyways, looks like our phones come with gps turned on, as well as googles track location services. Boooo! Time will tell. More to come.i also dont have 4g yet
