Official Battery Life Thread

Had my phone since Friday night. Now, I'm very please overall with this device. Its extremely smooth and snappy. Only issue I have other than the battery right now is the slow transition to landscape, which im sure will be fixed soon.

Now, like I said I like most people hate the battery life on this phone. Its not enough to make me take it back, but its really annoying. My niece was over today and I let her play Words With Friends on my phone while I made lunch. Couldnt have been but 15 minutes tops. My phone was fully charged on the charger before I gave it to her. When I got back the phone was already drained down to 78%! Nothing was on except wifi and around 50% brightness. I was floored to see that. Also, just a little while ago I was downloading a few new games and apps, noticed I went down 4% in about 10 minutes of downloading on wifi. Seems to suck juice really really quick. This is all with the stock battery, as I don't believe I should have to buy a different battery to last the day.

Anyway, another thing I noticed when I dl'ed Advanced Task Killer was that random programs, including games and such would pop up and take up memory. Now, this may just be a bug because its not supported officially with ICS so may mean nothing, but just worried me if stuff was stealth launching in the background. Kinda weird.

Anyway, overall happy with the whole package, just wish I didn't have to stay connected to a wall most of the day.

Well this is from my second day, I was full this morning from a over night charge.

Didn't touch any settings and had 4g on the whole time. Came home and had wifi on every since, started downloading apps and video chatted on skype for about 15 mins for whatever its worth.

EDIT: I was on twitter the whole day...

I tried yesterday 10h at work on 3g and today 10h at work on 4g. I got down to about 60% yesterday and 50% today with light to moderate use.

Damn. I was at 63% after about 11 and a half hours of use (texting, light web browsing, checking emails). Then again, I was on 3G only. Haven't been able to fully check it on 4G.

Yea i was on 4g the entire time and wifi for about 4 hours. Im kinda fine with this, I may still get the ext batt once more cases are made for it.

I have the extended battery since Day 1. Can not say I am impressed with it, however, I have taken into account that I have been using the phone every 5 seconds. lol I got roughly 8 hours today when it was around 15%. So I decided to see what would happen if I just left the phone alone for a few hours. (This was around 3 pm) picked up the phone at 7:30 and there was still some battery left. Messed around with google+ hangouts since the new update got pushed out and then put on charge.

This next part is where the phone has most impressed me. I had it on charge for a little over a hour and a half and it was close to 90%. I LOVE THAT. Even though the battery doesnt last as long, it charges SUPERFAST!! Ican take that trade off :)

What affects the screen usage? I have mine down to almost dark, and it went up to 80%. The lowest I got was 66% with it a bit brighter. I see some have 34% to 44%?! How do you get it that low.

How long it stays on before it sleeps?

Here is my battery for today. Mostly on WiFi, took some videos and pictures, email, texts, not many calls. I would say medium use today, not as much as usual though.

Not sure what the complaints are thus far but i‘m getting pretty good battery life. Right now i‘m at 12 hrs and still have 21% battery left with medium usage.

I‘m on automatic brightness and using no battery saving apps at all.

This is definitely better than my droid x where I was getting 8-10 hrs on a charge.

Here's mine after today's use.

I bought the extended battery, was using only 3G.

I'd say I did moderate use. 20 minutes of phone calls 20-30 text messages, checking emails, browsing the web, and checking out apps in the app store.

syncing 2 gmail accounts, 3 email accounts on 15min timers, and synced with google calender/contacts; I got a weather widget updating every 3hrs, phone was on vibrate the entire time.

I took a few photos as well.

I also played 30 minutes of Sudoku

screen was on for 1hr 22 mins

GPS was disabled for most of the day, never turned on bluetooth
brightness set to auto

For tomorrow, I'm gonna have the 4G on all day and see how it goes. I will probably have more usage tomorrow. I have a busy day.

I'm guessing I can get a 12-15 hour day of moderate-heavy use with 4G on all day tomorrow using the extended battery.

I'll post results.

anyone leave their 4g, gps and wifi on the entire time? that's what i normally do with my nexus s on t-mobile but i am switching to verizon so i would like to see what the battery life is like with those left on until the battery dies.

i know it's not going to be that great with all those on but i'm hoping through android updates/radio updates, a custom rom and a good kernel it will last more than enough time with all of those on.

Yes, this is a known issue right now that Android OS Keep awake time is high, even though your phone is mostly turned off.

Check your Android OS battery stat, if the Keep awake time is high.

Then help to star this Google bug tracking so Google will fix it:

Issue 22878 - android - Galaxy Nexus ICS 'Android OS' High Battery usage - Android - An Open Handset Alliance Project - Google Project Hosting

Not sure if this was posted in this thread, looks like there may be a bug.
Issue 22878 - android - Galaxy Nexus ICS 'Android OS' High Battery usage - Android - An Open Handset Alliance Project - Google Project Hosting

Here is my usage.
Android OS 26%
Screen 26%
Phone idle 15%
Voice calls 13%
Cell Standby 11%
Google Services 3%
Bluetooth 3%

Unplugged since 8:44AM, it's now 3:01pm and I'm at 65% battery. Not too bad I guess. Yesterday I got horrible battery life, though I didn't look at the battery usage. I was in the car mostly streaming slacker via bluetooth for a couple hours and the phone was discharging quicker than the charger could charge it. That was with a 1A car charger.

I do all of that and the best I have gotten was 14% left after almost 10 hours, that was light use. Under heavy use got to 15% in under 5 hours. So good luck.

My battery is fantastic today with medium usage (for me). ~5 mins of phone calls, plenty of data usage (over WiFi), light emailing and texting, etc. Android Revolution HD ROM seems to help too. Although, I'm not sure to what degree.

I watch Youtube videos, Send anywhere between 50-200 texts, Post on facebook and refresh it all the time, Sync a few songs a day AND keep my Wifi on all day and I the battery has managed to last around 20 hours. I can't get 4G where I live because I'm 40 miles outside of any major city.

13 hours right now and I still have 43% left. I never let the phone fully die though.

I'm only getting about 5 hours and I get down to the 14% battery warning. I mean and all I'm doing is leaving 4g on, and viewing webpages, and texting. Maybe watching some youtube videos. So far even if I don't do much on it that day I still get about 6 1/2. Right now battery life is horrible. I have the extended battery coming in the mail.

Still conditioning I'm sure, but here I am. Was on 4g for probably 11+ hours, only one wifi when I'm at home so this was probably 5hrs of wifi maybe? Stock battery:

I was connected to wifi all day. Bluetooth, GPS on, auto brightness. I had about 57min talk time, 2:20min of display and 33% time with no signal. I sent 7 emails that included pictures. Also I looked at the weather a couple times. I am satisfied with the battery life. I am using the standard battery. should be getting the extended tomorrow.
