Skype Force close

I had CM6 on my evo for about 5 months and checked a few days ago and saw that cm7 was available.

I installed it and everything I have tested works great. The only app I can't get working is Skype. I start it for the first time, add username and password and hit connect. It works for a while like it is connecting then just disappears.

If I try to start it again I get the dreaded force close window.

I have completely uninstalled it - app, data, cache and reinstalled with same results.

A google search shows a few people having the same cm7 Skype problem but no real problem across the board and no solution.

I can live without Skype for now I guess because I want to keep cm7.

Anything else I can try to possibly get Skype working?

So was the horrid USB transfer rates ever fixed? I know there was a lot of talk about it being an issues with the kernel base code but never heard anything afterwards.

#40's wifi isn't broken. It just didn't install properly and left you with a half-installed CM7 over your existing version, and THAT broke wifi. The zip is bad or something.

I never heard anything about this, period.

I'm sorry. It's the horrid SD card rates during usb transfer that require an app like Multi Mount SD-Card or transfers to be done via recovery. It's still a kernel issue though and affects anything based on the new kernel code, even Froyo.

I must be lucky. I've never had any noticeable transfer rate problems.

Then maybe the zip file in ROM manager is bad because almost everyone downloaded it from RM had problems.

Now that official HTC evo Gingerbread is leaked., do you think CM7 can quickly wrap this up with all the fixes and goodies and finalized the CM7 and move on.? This is getting real boring now.

CM will need the source. The leaked ROM isn't going to help them that much.

Well that really shucks., waiting for the source could take months. I really like CM7 above all custom Roms out there., but I'm beginning to miss some of the features the phone had. I.e. 720 video record. I mean its like owning a fully loaded BMW and the night vision camera and HUD heads up display is whacky. Something like that. Anyways I hope things get worked out cause this is been my my daily Rom like forever! Thanks CM, the best out there.

Downloaded it from CM's mirror, too. Same problem. Oh, well... #41 is out now, and it flashed just fine.

Haven't notice the phone getting hot or the battery drain. Could be the fact I have only been using it for 5 hrs. Hope I can get a better read tomorrow.

I think it's that proximity sensor drain reported in some ROMs, as many are reporting proximity problems. #39 is great, though. Gonna take a lot of perfection to get me to switch.
