Hey do you know of a kernel that works nice with cm7? That speeds up my evo and makes the battery better? I'm using tiamat but it just drains the ram on my phone it makes it so slow and laggy, it has really good battery life but I don't know why it makes the phone so slowwww.

I have only played with other kernels so far. I get tired of always having to flash the kernel when I update. I have no complaints with the stock kernel. I average around 18hrs with it and I don't see the phone being slow.

Here are the others I have played with. Didn't have them long enough to see how the battery life was.

the battery on the Zen kernel is pretty good but it also makes my phone slower I'm trying the other one right now.

I would contend that ROM Manager confuses the process about what's actually going on when you make, restore, and manage backups, as well as flashing ROMs and packages. Basically, sooner or later you'll have to boot into recovery and learn to do it manually when ROM Manager or CWM fails, so I'd just recommend flashing Amon_RA recovery from ROM Manager instead of CWM and ditching the app completely.

I agree with you and I'd rather learn how to do this "the hard way" first, so I understand how it all works. However, I'm not sure I follow your last point about amon_ra and clockwork. I have clockwork recovery simply by the fact that I used unrevoked right? And amon_ra is just another type of recovery? Is one better than the other? Is there a reason why you think I should use amon_ra instead of clockwork? Thnx!

What Gapps are u using.. I'm using 5/04 and I can't get the videochat to work in Google talk.. keeps force closing everytime I click on the persons name... Is there another Gapps that works with Video Chat for Google talk??

That's the one I'm using. Had to update from a download someone had linked me to a while back.

Correct, it's just another custom recovery.

I've never read of a single issue where Amon_Ra caused a problem for someone or prevented a ROM, kernel, software package, radio update, etc, from being flashed, but I've read many stories of people that had issues flashing, backing up, updating, etc, when using CWM.

Pretty much all of them once you fix it. Get your MSL, flash a Sense Rom, dial ##gpsclrx#, enter MSL, after reboot, restore back to where you were.

mine works i been running CM7 -7.0.3.1 stable for almost 3 weeks now ,idk if kernels make a diffrence im still a noob
