I'm running Windows 7 64bit Home Premium with no problems. One more thought, are you using a USB port on the computer or a hub? Use USB from the computer direct. And are you using the USB cable that came with the phone charger? It was installed in x86 running W7, 64-bit
I get the error "MiniLauncher has stopped working" when I plug in the Captivate and the program force closes.
I did reboot after the isnstall. I've even done a re-install after a System restore to clear the registry and get the same thing.
I've tried rebooting the phone and computer, run it as Administrator and in the XP compatibility mode. Nothing works.
I contacted Samsung and they just said "Kies mini is not supported in 64-bit OS" - but I've seen everywhere people successfully upgrading in 64-bit, so I don't buy it.
I don't know what else to do...
For those that upgraded to froyo today, is it 2.2 or 2.2.1?

I'm plugging directly into the computer with the data cable that came with the phone.
That's the exact operating system I'm running. I don't get it. Like I said, I don't know what to do... Plenty of people - now including you - have installed with 64-bit.
Kies mini just won't launch for me, no matter what. So damn frustrating. I'm almost there!
Take the battery out, power the phone back, then press the power, volume up and down buttons at the same time. In the menu you will see clear all user data. Do that and then reboot.
Have you tried:
Right click on the Kies Mini shortcut
Go to Properties and click on "Compatibility"
Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select Windows XP (Service Pack 3) from the pulldown
Click "OK"
Also, do you have many apps running when you're running Kies mini? Or are the memory hogs? Try closing everything else then re-open Kies mini and connect the phone.
Anyone know if AT&T has disabled Sideloading of Apps, with 2.2, like they have with 2.1?
I used OCD (One Click Decripple) to get that feature back on my 2.1 Captivate, and already have USB and Wifi tethering on 2.1, so am trying to see if/how I should "upgrade" to 2.2.
So far, my Captivate is plenty fast for me, and with an UNLIMITED data plan, I have noooo desire to play AT&T more (ie $45), for less (a capped plan).
Update complete. The changes to device speed were negligible. Oh, what a shocker: USB and wireless tethering require adding it to your plan. I'll try it out for a day and if it's no better on battery life and overall performance, it's back to Cognition for me.
I'm stuck on "Downloading...Do not turn off Target!!!" What do I do?
Thanks
I am at the same point.
After "downloading binaries" the phone goes into downloading phase, my computer pops up a USB error saying the device has malfunctioned. After a minute or 2, Kies says the updated failed and to disconnect the battery and reboot.
I have tried this 3 times with 2 different USB ports.
I pulled the battery and tried it again. Same problem. Then I pulled the battery and tried it again. Same problem. Getting tired of this merry-go-round. Is this "update" even worth this hassle? Why can't this be sooo much easier? I have to download this driver, install this, connect that, push these buttons at the same time... and then there are many more steps. Ridiculous.
